OFF BROADWAY'S 'RUTHLESS' WINS ODYSSEY AWARD

**** THE BEST OF NEW YORK CITY **** Joel Paley With Paul Pecorino And Marvin Laird Odyssey New York Magazine presented the 2015 Odyssey Nightlife Awards at a star-studded gala this past Friday, January 15th at XL New York. RUTHLESS! The Musical received the coveted Best Off Broadway Show award and its star, Paul Pecorino, was honored for Best Breakthrough Off Broadway Performance. Due to overwhelming demand, the producers of RUTHLESS! recently put a new block of seats on sale through April 2nd. RUTHLESS! opened Off-Broadway July 13, 2015 to unanimous rave reviews led by Entertainment Weekly which called the show, “Uproarious! A mash-up of THE BAD SEED, GYPSY, ALL ABOUT EVE, plus the films of Douglas Sirk and John Waters!” Book and lyrics are by Joel Paley with music by Marvin Laird. Marvin Laird With Bernadette Peters And Joel Paley Longtime partners and the creators of the hit musical RUTHLESS!, Marvin Laird and Joel Paley, were married in a private ceremony on November 1st. It was truly a family affair with two of the producers, Maxine Paul and Evan Sacks, standing up for the resplendent grooms as maid of honor and best man respectively. The initial announcement of the nuptials occurred at the July 13th opening night of RUTHLESS! when Paley proposed to Laird while making a celebratory toast at the post-performance party. Sunday’s wedding was held at the beautiful home of the show’s third producer, Ken Schur, and his lovely and charming wife Janet. Attendees included Bernadette Peters, Lynn Cohen and members of the RUTHLESS! company.
