HARDING **** Clint Eastwood OSCAR NEWS --- The Oscar nominations were announced yesterday sending the net into a major hissy-fit: Snubbed: Into the Woods, Unbroken, and, Clint Eastwood as director of Best Picture nominee American Sniper. The LEGO Movie was dismissed. Almost all of Selma was bypassed, except for a Best Picture nom. The Bennett Miller film Foxcatcher, got everything but Best Picture. Also snubbed: Jennifer Aniston in Cake and Golden Globe-winner Amy Adams in Big Eyes. Robert Duvall’s good performance in a sub par movie, The Judge, was a nom as well. And, to me, a performance that’s really become etched into my mind, Steve Carell in Foxcatcher scored. Odd choices for sure. I’ve seen Cake and Aniston is really stellar. Clint Eastwood Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood is laughing off rumors that he is bringing back his legendary Dirty Harry character for a new movie and is insisting the grizzled cop would be far too old. It was recently reported the 77-year-old wanted to kill off Harry Callahan in one more movie, 37 years after the character first graced the big screen. But Eastwood - who will introduce a Cannes Film Festival screening of 1971’s Dirty Harry on tomorrow insists Callahan would be long retired by now. He says, "Dirty Harry would not be in a police department at my age."

He told Parade magazine: "I wonder how I got this far in life. Growing up, I never knew what I wanted to do. I was not a terribly good student or very vivacious. I was a backward kid."Clint even promised himself he would never become an actor because it would ruin his life. He explained: "I didn't want to be an actor. I thought an actor had to be an extrovert - somebody who loved to tell jokes. When I wanted to make 'Million Dollar Baby' they said, 'Who wants to see a picture about a girl boxing?' and I said, 'It's really a father-daughter love story.
