Dr. Lonnie Smith Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 Jazz series on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 8pm with 2017 NEA Jazz Master Dr. Lonnie Smith. An authentic master and guru of the Hammond B-3 organ for over five decades, he has been featured on over seventy albums, and has recorded and performed with a virtual "Who's Who" of the greatest jazz, blues and R&B giants in the industry. NAI-NI CHEN DANCE Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College will once again partner with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company for its fourth annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3pm. This all-new family-friendly celebration of Chinese culture commemorates the Year of the Rooster and will feature special guest artists from the Oriental Cultural Arts Performance Group of Hohot and Erosos, who will travel all the way from Inner Mongolia, China for the event. Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company The Monkey King Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College announces that internationally acclaimed Peking Opera performer Feng Gu will join the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company for its annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3pm. Mr. Gu, a principal member of the Beijing Kunqu Theater, will perform the role of the Monkey King in a special excerpt from Monkey King in the Heavenly Palace, one of the most celebrated Peking Opera productions in China.
