  Jean Shafiroff Aisha Christian The Southampton African American Museum (SAAM) held its summer founder’s circle fundraiser which this year honored, Brenda Simmons, Founder and Executive Director of SAAM.   Jean Shafiroff   Aisha Christian The Southampton African American Museum (SAAM) held a summer party chaired by New York philanthropist, author, and TV host Jean Shafiroff, and her husband, Martin Shafiroff, along with Aisha Christian & Michael Steifman at the restaurant Blu Mar in Southampton, NY with a post-reception dinner at the restaurant 75 Main. The event was the official launch of the museum’s Founder’s Campaign to support its operations and endowment. The museum, a former Black barber shop opened on June 19, 2021, and is the first African American designated landmark in the Village of Southampton.   Jean Shafiroff With Martin Shafiroff Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and financier husband Martin Shafiroff are set to co-chair a Fundraising Party for the Southampton African American Museum   Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff , along with her husband  Martin Shafiroff,  a Vice Chairman of Stifel, will co-chair  a fundraising party  for the Southampton African American Museum on Thursday, August 12, 2021.  The event will take place at Blu Mar in Southampton, NY. The other co-chairs are Aisha Christian and Martin Steifman.   Jean Shafiroff With Rebecca A. Seawright   The new Southampton African American Museum (SAAM) held a VIP reception and ribbon cutting to celebrate their historic opening. After sixteen years of planning, the transformed barbershop to Museum opened its doors for a community cultural experience highlighting incredible journeys of black people along unchartered paths from Virginia and the Carolinas north to Southampton, NY. Prior to the event, philanthropist, donor and volunteer fundraiser for the museum, Jean Shafiroff, donated $10,000 and raised another $20,000. The funds Jean helped secure is more than a third of their budget of $85,000 to run the museum on an annual basis. During her speech at the grand opening, she encouraged people to open their wallets and their hearts to contribute to the fundraising efforts which they graciously did.
