BRING LEONARD PELTIER HOME CONCERT 2012

Jackson Browne Harry Belafonte and Pete Seeger will co-host the BRING LEONARD PELTIER HOME 2012 CONCERT, an all-star evening of music and learning featuring performers Jackson Browne, Bruce Cockburn, Common, and Native American singers Bill Miller, and Jennifer Kreisberg, and others, plus notable speakers including Danny Glover, Peter Coyote, Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, and just added, Michael Moore. This star-studded, multicultural event aims to raise awareness about the 37-year ordeal of Native American activist Leonard Peltier and his plea for clemency. Peltier, a six-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, has been imprisoned since the mid Seventies for his involvement in controversial incidents at Wounded Knee and Oglala, South Dakota. Robert Redford's 1992 documentary Incident at Oglala tells Peltier’s story. The concert is Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. **** "Harlem at the Crossroads: Sustaining Our Arts and Cultural Resources" ****   Vy Higginsen Danny Glover The HARLEM Arts Alliance (HAA), the central connection to Uptown arts and culture, is summoning Harlem artists and New York arts supporters to the Harlem Arts Summit during Harlem Arts Advocacy Week this fall. Under the theme "Harlem at the Crossroads: Sustaining Our Arts and Cultural Resources," the seven-day series of mostly free events will kick off on October 1 at 10:00 a.m. with presentations to actor and activist Danny Glover, legendary theatrical producer Vy Higginsen and pioneering arts producer and consultant Mikki Shepard at Aaron Davis Hall (City College of New York). The Arts Summit, will feature an array of performances, screenings, panels and presentations designed to build support for the arts in Harlem and in communities of color throughout the city. And here she is, the star who has walked more red carpets in the past few weeks Taraji P. Henson, looking stunning like always. We do not know how she does it. Pure class.
