SOUTHAMPTON INN CELEBRATES A SUMMER OF CULTURE AND FUN & GAMES
Barbara Gooss |
The award-winning Southampton Inn invited hotel guests, local residents and seasonal visitors to a celebration of culture at the most desirable location in the heart of Southampton New York with the start of the annual Pianofest concert series and the launch of Dawn Watson’s new book, East End Fun & Games.
Pianofest is a summer festival that offers concentrated study opportunities to a small group of pianists selected by audition. A weekly concert series highlights the talents of these emerging artists at venues throughout the Hamptons starting in June through August. Pianofest’s director Paul Schenly along with celebrated faculty members Ursula Oppens, Orion Weiss, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, and Pavel Nersessian are involved in the sessions which conclude August 1st.
Engaged with the world of literature, The Southampton Inn hosted a book launch party for the release of East End Fun & Games by Dawn Watson with illustrations by John Dempsey. The event included a specially created fun and informative Treasure Hunt throughout the grounds of the inn with prizes for the kids, and an opportunity to meet the author, Dawn Watson. In addition to offering signed copies of the book, guests were invited to enjoy dinner at award-winning Claude's Restaurant.
The full-color 95-page interactive kids' book is full of puzzles, games, mazes, riddles, coloring pages, and much more. Published by East End Press, it's priced at $11.99 and perfectly sized for kids ages 5 and up. The book is available at the Southampton Inn, as well as other fine bookshops and retailers across the East End.
