MAN JUMPS INTO EAST RIVER IN HUNTERS POINT SOUTH PARK SUICIDE - POLICE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police Rescue Body From East River

Yesterday there was a suicide in Hunters Point South Park.

According to witnesses the man approached Park department workers and claimed he was being chased from Staten Island by people that wanted to kill him. Park department workers said he appeared to be on something, that he was delusional and was rambling away before he fled to the waterfront and jumped in. 

Police were called to the scene right away, with the NYPD 108th precinct and the NYPD Harbor Patrol responding. The man was face down in the east river and his body was pulled onto the boat where EMS were waiting to try and revive the man. According to witnesses, the man was pronounced dead.
