CMX Cinemas along with its CEO, Jose Leonardo Martí, hosted an invitation-only red-carpet event to herald the opening of their first New York City outpost, CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd.

The star-studded event paid homage to three celebrated films from the most coveted eras of the 30s/40s, 70s, and modern day, and was hosted by New York film icons that included film director, producer and writer, Spike Lee; renowned actress and model Brooke Shields; and actress and granddaughter of iconic silent film legend Charlie Chaplin, Kiera Chaplin. The event drew more than 300 guests, made up an illustrious mix of New York socialites, luminaries, industry leaders and celebrities, such as Katie Couric and John Molner, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Grace Hightower De Niro, Paul Sorvino, Jay McInerney and Anne Hearst, Lizzie Tisch, and Jazmin Grimaldi and Ian Mellencamp.

The evening commenced with screenings specially curated by each host that depicted a period-specific film, with Spike Lee presenting BlacKkKlansman, Brooke Shields presenting Pretty Baby, and Kiera Chaplin presenting City Lights.

The nostalgic movie theme was also present throughout the overall guest experience of the night, where the specific eras were translated through the event décor, musical entertainment performances, and cocktails and culinary delights presented by CMX Cinemas’ Vice President of Culinary Development, Isaac Stewart.

Featuring a vertical layout with 45,500 sq. feet of theater space, each of CMX CinéBistro’s six levels contains two auditoriums and immersive bars in the common areas. Ranging in size from 46 to 64 seats, CMX CinéBistro’s six auditoriums feature the latest in projection technology, including a Dolby 7.1 sound system, and lush oversized reclining love seats with leather accents and foot rests, complete with a swivel table. CMX’s unique luxury concept uses cutting-edge technology to offer moviegoers the ultimate upscale, relaxing cinema experience with in-seat, full-service dining and an exceptional assortment of wines and handcrafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients by top mixologists.



CMX has grown exponentially by introducing their own and acquiring other movie theater chains, the most successful being the acquisition of Cobb Theatres and Cinebistro. These acquisitions made CMX the eighth largest movie theatre chain in the United States, with 37 locations, 388 screens and its parent company, Cinemex, the 6th largest worldwide with 332 sites and 2,861 screens.
