The inaugural annual Fitness New York Awards, founded by Carrie Brudner, honored nine leaders in the health, wellness and fitness industries, presented by Dr. Alex Eingorn. The event was well-attended by family and friends of honorees plus celebrity guests who took part in a lively red carpet and step-and-repeat displayed by event sponsors at 80 Washington Place in New York City.

Each of the honorees are eminent in their respective fields and have successfully maintained or developed respected brands and amassed many A-list followers to match their high-profile clientele. Applauding their efforts, high-level colleagues and celebrity clients attended in support of the honorees.

The evening’s honorees included:

Carlos Leon, Best Male Celebrity Trainer: The co-founder of Belleon Body, is a celebrity trainer and actor of stage and screen. He and Grammy® award-winning singer Madonna are the parents of Lourdes Leon, and his family was in attendance to support his recent achievement. Ryan Seacrest and Adrian Grenier are among Leon’s celebrity clients.

Ann Kaiser, Best Female Celebrity Trainer: The Founder of AKT, counts Kelly Ripa, Shakira, Hillary Duff and Sarah Jessica Parker, and others, among her loyal clientele. AKT has studios in NYC, the Hamptons, Connecticut, and Los Angeles.

Toper DesPrés, Best Fitness Visionary: The Director of Wilhelmina Fitness + Sports Division elevated the agency when he trained models to perform athletically and skillfully for the advertising campaigns of national brands.

Amy Conway, Women’s Magazine of the Year: The Editor-in-Chief of Health, has a passion for health and wellness that she brings to her newest job. She came to Health the summer of 2018 after a long and illustrious career with various magazines under the Martha Stewart imprint.

Marcus Antebi, Best Nutrition Brand: The Founder of Juice Press went from addiction to being on top of the juicing world with his wildly popular brand Juice Press, now with more than 70 stores around the country. Juice Press offers an expansive USDA-organic product line as well as a variety of lifestyle resources.

David Kirsch, Wellness Innovator: The Founder of David Kirsch Wellness Company has over two decades’ experience in harnessing the powerful connection between body, mind, and spirit. Kirsch’s philosophy of “sound mind, sound body” appeals to many A-listers. He’s known as the go-to man when a celebrity needs to get in shape fast.

Ilana Kugel, Best Activewear Brand: The Founder and Creative Director of Koral, designs and markets luxe, athleisure pieces that are edgy yet feminine and made from high-tech fabrics.

Justin Gelband, Fitness Influencer: The Celebrity Personal Trainer is best known for training Victoria’s Secret models including Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss, and Martha Hunt.

Taking place on the terrace of a beautiful Greenwich Village townhouse, the fitness-loving honorees and guests enjoyed healthy light bites alongside a variety of beverage options provided by sponsors.

The first annual Fitness New York Awards honored the best of the best in the fitness industry. Founded by Carrie Brudner, the special event awards leaders in many facets of health, wellness and fitness. The exclusive red-carpet event will expand into Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California in 2019.
