It is really sad when a politician puts his own needs against those in the community.
Recently residents started complaining about conditions in the neighborhood to Jimmy Van Bramers Office and at Town Halls. Jimmy Van Bramer made promises and has kept none to the residents here in Hunters Point South.

There are no garbage cans from the City Of New York here on Borden Ave, 50th street and 51st street, 54th street and any of the cross streets. Phone calls to Jimmy Van Bramers only produced promises that his office would get them.
A few months ago I ran into Van Bramer by the Woolworth building at my favorite Irish Restaurant there and I asked him and his staff about the Garbage Pails. They said soon, they were on their way, something his office has been saying for over three years now.
Another resident who was complaining about the conditions with Garbage in the neighborhood, got a e mail from Van Bramers office from the sanitation department. The letter stated that they did a canvas of our streets and came to the conclusion that they were not needed.
Now a good councilman who wants to run for Queens President would have picked up the phone to talk to the Sanitation Commissioner personally and say we needed them and that was that. After all the City Council votes on their budget, any smart Commissioner would comply. But Jimmy was satisfied with the letter and left the residents hanging.
Residents have taken things into their own hands, they are lining the block on 50th street with home made cans, which do not look good and are overflowing with garbage and dog poop. This is not very nice for a community of high rent high rises.
The fact remains that Jimmy Van Bramer does not care. He is elected and re-elected every time and I think it is time he leaves public service. I think we should vote against his run for Queens President unless he comes to terms that Hunters Point South is besieged with visitors from all over who smash bottles everywhere, throw trash everywhere. They destroy our streets and they destroy our park. Trash cans will not take care of the whole problem, but at least it will help with some of the litter. And why shouldn't we have trash cans? Every neighborhood in NYC has them, why does Hunters Point South have to do without?
But Jimmy Van Bramer does not care, He has them on his street in the rich area of Sunnyside Queens. Van Bramer would never put up with this on his block.

RED LIGHTS NEEDED
The corner of Borden and Center is where most of the park guests enter the park. There are stop signs there. The problem is no one will stop at all and it is so bad that we really need a red light. We have requested this for a very long time from Van Bramers Office, but he saw fit to have stop signs placed way down the block and did not address our complaints about Borden & Center Blvd as well at 50th street and Center.
Keep in mind, there is no enforcement on these blocks. Even with a cop car sitting there (which is rare) and people fly through the stop sign, there is no enforcement. We have told Van Bramers office as well as the 108th prescient. Nothing.
This year someone will be killed there. There is drag racing with high end racing cars as well as unlicensed dirt bikes racing up and down late at night. As always, No enforcement at all.
So this will be on Van Bramers head when someone is killed there this year. He was told, He ignored. We are also very happy Van Bramer is safe in his neighborhood of Sunnyside.
ILLEGAL PARKING ON SIDEWALKS
All over the neighborhood we have cars parked on the sidewalks. The majority of them all have placards. They say Police Department, Fire Department and the Board Of Education. Even the janitor from Hunters Point Campus has a placard. Not right.
Sidewalks on 50th are blocked with not only these cars with placards but with businesses trucks. It is almost impossible for anyone getting off the subway to get through the block. Van Bramer and the 108th pulled a fake ticket photo op for these cars, but sources told me that this was a setup to appease the residents, no tickets were really given. But that did not stop Van Bramer from posting all over Twitter that he corrected the problem. And all the illegal trucks and cars are still there. Didn't the city announce a crackdown of these placards? Why should the normal citizen have to park legally and everyone else has a placard? Is this fair? Is it fair for the disabled people in this neighborhood to have to walk in the street?
Would Jimmy Van Bramer want his mother to walk in the street? Would Jimmy Van Bramer his park overrun with drunks and graffiti at all hours day and night? Would Jimmy Van Bramer want garbage all over his streets because his block had no garbage pails?
HUNTERS POINT SOUTH PARK
Since the concession stand is run by a friend and contributor of Van Bramers election campaigns, complaints to Van Bramers office about the garbage and everything else generated by this business have gone un-answered. Phone calls to Van Bramers office to Matt Wallace went un-answered because the complaints concerned the concession and The Hunters Point Conservancy who also has ignored the problems. Since Van Bramers Office is not only friends with the concession owner, Matt Wallace is also on the conservancy board. So we get no action and no return calls. After all, we are complaining about their friends, a member of their circle.
In all fairness to the Concession owner, I have been working with him for improvements and things are getting better. But this is not my responsibility, it is the responsibility of our elected officials. They are supposed to address these issues. But every day I and other community residents have to address one issue after another while Jimmy Van Bramer runs after one photo op after another. I never saw such a press whore in my life and I have been a member of the NYC Press for 30 years. Only one that beat him was when I photographed Donald Trump, the inventor of fake news. Jimmy seems to be following in his footsteps.
But I take heart of knowing Jimmy Van Bramer lives in Sunnyside and has a private park across the street from his home, that he uses a key to get into. Van Bramer has a clean park, Van Bramer has Garbage Pails and Van Bramer has red lights. We get nothing.
JIMMY VAN BRAMER BLOCKS CONSTITUENTS COMPLAINTS ON TWITTER
Residents took to TWITTER a few weeks ago to try and get Jimmy Van Bramers attention on his lack of leadership as a councilman . The residents had valid complaints. Van Bramer blocked them. When I complained on Van Bramers page that he has no right to block his constituents, he then blocks me and my almost 44 thousand followers. Didn't the courts just rule that Donald Trump as a public official can not block citizens, but can only put them on ignore?
I think this is a disgrace that a person we voted for and a person we supported will block residents from speaking their mind.
So Jimmy Van Bramer, this is the way it will be for now on until you do your job. I will write stories and I will bring TV crews to Hunters Point South and show them every problem until you start to do your job. How dare you block residents on TWITTER and how dare you ignore valid complaints from people that voted for you. Since elections count on a very small number of voters, I am sure the residents I represent can have a huge impact when you run for Queens President. Maybe I will even run against you, my friends have more election money than yours.
