New York, NY – On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), an international organization dedicated to ending the trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of women and girls, will honor William C. Silverman and Proskauer Rose LLP, JoAnn Neale and Jimmie Briggs for their outstanding commitment to fighting human trafficking, promoting justice and equality, and improving lives. Mr. Silverman heads Proskauer Rose’s pro bono practice and has been instrumental in efforts to change New York State’s human trafficking laws and build the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition. Ms. Neale is the chief administrative officer at Major League Soccer (MLS) where she has spearheaded game-changing efforts to support underserved and vulnerable youth through MLS WORKS, the league’s community outreach initiative dedicated to addressing important social issues and galvanizing the soccer community around service. The program will feature a performance by Grammy-nominated, R&B singer-songwriter Amel Larrieux. Grizelda Grootboom, South African survivor leader and author of the memoir “Exit,” will present a remembrance for those who have not survived the sex trade. Stage and screen actress Reshma Shetty (“Royal Pains,” “Pure Genius” and Broadway’s “Bombay Dreams”); artist and poet Cleo Wade; and “Teen Vogue’s” Elaine Welteroth will also speak.
