Southampton Long Island, NY –– Philanthropist, author, former honoree, and ‘Open Your Heart’ co-chair Jean Shafiroff, along with her husband Martin Shafiroff celebrated the American Heart Association’s 21st Annual Hamptons Heart Ball. The gala took place this past Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Southampton Arts Center in Southampton, NY where more than 400 guests and well-wishers demonstrated their commitment to heart health and the work of this important Association.

The over 400 attendees for the American Heart Association’s 21st Annual; Hamptons Heart Ball enjoyed an evening of great food, drinks, speeches and charity. Guests were thrilled by the events new location this year. The Southampton Arts Center was host to the event and did not disappoint. The American Heart Association, once again proved that theirs was the party to be at on Saturday, June 10th raising funds to help in the fight against cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

This year, the Heart Ball honored Lori Mosca, MD Professor of Medicine Emerita and Director American Heart Association Go Red for Women Strategically Focused Research Network at Columbia University Medical Center and Ralph S. Mosca, M.D., George E. Reed, Professor of Cardiac Surgery, Vice Chair, Clinical Affairs, Division Director, Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital Of New York, NYU Langone Medical Center. The Village of Southampton was also recognized for being a Heart Safe community. The 2017 Hamptons Heart Ball was chaired by George Benedict, Chair Emeritus of the Board of Seafield Center and Aubrey C. Galloway, M.D., Seymour Cohn Professor & Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, NYU Langone Medical Center. This year’s Open Your Heart was chaired by Jean Shafiroff who assisted in numerous Kick-Off parties and securing donations for the American Heart Association.



Notable attendees included: Lori Stokes, Co-Anchor of ABC Eyewitness News who served as Master of Ceremonies. Also in attendance were LI Board Member Meredith Cohn, Jean Shafiroff, Martin Shafiroff, Arnie and Paola Rosenshein, Ava Roosevelt, Ann Liguori, David and Jill Kandell, Consuelo Costin Vanderbilt, Tracy Stern, Nicole Noonan, Randi Schatz, Barry and Marsha Altman, Dean and Maria Elana Christiansen, Jon and Joan Gruen and John and Terry Tortorella.



In addition to honoring Dr. Lori Mosca and Dr. Ralph S. Mosca, the Hamptons Heart Ball recognized The Village of Southampton for being a Heart Safe community.

Jean holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and a BS in physical therapy from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
