JESSE METCALFE TALKS ABOUT DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Jesse Metcalfe

Actor Jesse Metcalfe stopped by HuffPost Live yesterday, to discuss season three of TNT's hit series “Dallas." He also opened up about his relationship with girlfriend Cara Santana and revealed why he wasn’t originally casted as the sexy landscaper on “Desperate Housewives.”

Metcalfe: “I had no idea how successful 'Desperate Housewives' was going to be. I just didn’t have a clue. I wasn’t originally casted in that part. They had another actor that was casted in that part and for some reason or another, they decided to recast. I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time and fit the bill. I had to audition for Marc Cherry, the creator of that show, and he saw fit to give me that role. It was an incredible opportunity but I did not anticipate it at all. I think a lot of it had to do with working with Eva Longoria. We had a great friendship and we had great chemistry on screen. I think people really loved that story line. The show just became a television phenomenon really and kind of found its place in the zeitgeist of popular culture.”

On What He Looks For In A Relationship:

Metcalfe: “I think most people are drawn to someone initially because of the way they look or maybe it’s just a vibe or something… But as far as being in a relationship with somebody, I’ve dated in the past some very beautiful women that weren’t so smart and it didn’t really keep my attention. So I really look for the total package. [My girlfriend Cara] is just one of the most caring and generous people I’ve ever met and she’s incredibly intelligent. She keeps our lives and my life in order. I’d be lost without her, I really would.”
