Jesse Ventura

Anderson Cooper, Sarah Palin, and Bill O'Reilly have been critical of the jury's verdict in Jesse Ventura's recent lawsuit against the estate of Chris Kyle. Jesse Ventura explains that none of these pundits reviewed the actual evidence. He responds to these pundits on his podcast, "We the People with Jesse Ventura" available on iTunes and AdamCarolla.com.

One of the biggest misleading points fueled by Cooper, Palin, and O'Reilly is that Jesse Ventura's award money is coming from Chris Kyle's widow, Taya. However, this is completely false. The insurance company for Chris Kyle's book publisher (HarperCollins) not only paid all fees associated with the trial, but will also be paying the full $1.8 million that the jury awarded Ventura.

Here's quotes from Jesse Ventura's response to Anderson Cooper:

Anderson Cooper doesn’t know a thing about this case because he hasn’t seen one shred of actual evidence. And I did not sue a widow and her children...That suit took place January of 2012. He [Chris Kyle] did not die until February, I believe, of 2013. So when his wife, Taya, took over as executive of the estate, she knew the lawsuit was part of it. She knew that when she chose to do it. She didn’t have to come into the lawsuit. She made a choice to come into the lawsuit. The executer of the estate could be a lawyer, it could be a brother, it could be an uncle, and anyone could be named the executer of an estate. So she made the choice to come into this trial and I believe that choice was made for the precise reason Anderson Cooper is defending, to make it look like I sued a widow and her children. And you know Anderson Cooper didn’t realize that she had insurance. Insurance paid for everything. I didn’t have insurance. I had to pay for everything myself. And he also doesn’t know that during settlement talks I offered to drop it for no money if they would simply give me back my reputation. Admit it was fabricated and we’d move on. They told me that wouldn’t happen. The only thing they would talk is money. They tried to buy me out of this; I wouldn’t take it because I wanted my reputation.

Sarah Palin is a quitter:

It goes without saying that Sarah Palin isn't much of a reader or independent thinker. Instead of addressing the blatant facts she ignored during her smear campaign of Ventura, the former governor had this to say of her short time in office:

Well you know what I’ve got to say to Sarah “The Quitter” Palin, at least I finished my term, Sarah, and didn’t lie to the people. You lied to the people. You told the people of Alaska you wanted to be their governor. And then all of a sudden fame and fortune came your way and being governor really wasn’t that important was it? So you dropped out early, you quit your job as governor. You didn’t fulfill your obligation and promise to the very people who elected you. You chose fame and fortune Sarah. I have no respect for you because you made a choice: you took the money over your obligation. So who are you to criticize me?

In Jesse Ventura's lawsuit, the book figures came out: prior to Chris Kyle's interview on Bill O'Reilly, when he defames Jesse Ventura, his book sold less than 4,000 copies. After that interview, the publisher ordered a reprint of 100,000 copies and the book went straight to the The New York Times bestsellers list. The book has sold 1.5 million copies and made $40 million dollars. $6 million went to the Chris Kyle Estate. Email exchanges from HarperCollins executives that were made public during Ventura's trial showed the skyrocketed success of the book was a direct result of the fabricated story.

Here's Jesse Ventura's response to Bill O'Reilly:

Lets talk about who employs Bill O’Reilly. NewsCorp owns Fox News and they also own Harper Collins: the very people who published the book [American Sniper]. So Bill O’Reilly is not a truthful person. He doesn’t tell you, him and Sarah Palin, that they have a conflict of interest. They both work for Fox News who signs their paychecks, and Harper Collins is the book company that wrote the book that defamed me. Notice how Bill O’Reilly doesn’t tell his listeners about his very own conflict of interests. I think that’s fairly important Bill, but apparently you don’t. Because, that’s right, you’re not a “truth seeker” you’re a liar.

Thank you. I've always liked J. V, and I still do. He had a right to clear his name and reputation. When people want to settle for money without telling the truth....they out themselves. JV is about the truth and honor. He's a good man.
