BEAR GRYLLS PIONEERING NEW GENRE OF ADVENTURE

Bear Grylls

Survival expert and professional adventurer Bear Grylls is pioneering a new genre of adventure and 'outdoorsmanship' with his latest television ventures and Bear Grylls Survival Academy. Having survived alone in the harshest of conditions, this time Bear is bringing company in the form of celebrities and the general public for a demanding and empowering survival experience.

The most recent reality television offering, NBC's Running Wild with Bear Grylls, sees Bear partnered one-on-one with celebrities in some of the wildest and most remote locations in the U.S. and around the world. The format aims to test their minds and bodies in a 48-hour journey of a lifetime. Participating celebrities include actor-director Ben Stiller, actor Channing Tatum, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, actor Tom Arnold, MSNBC and "Today' anchor Tamron Hall and actor Zac Efron. Bear and Zac lead the series in an action-based journey through the harsh wilderness of the Catskill Mountains in New York State.

The Bear Grylls Survival Academy, recently launched in the U.S., offers the general public the opportunity to push their boundaries and complete the survival experiences as seen on TV. Exclaiming, "I just feel completely free" as he rappelled mountain faces and navigated challenging rope-crossings, Efron demonstrates the Bear Grylls ideology and many of the Academy experiences, in overcoming the fear to push through and overcome the obstacles and survive. Comprising a combination of remote land/water survival and adventure tasks, four-day and 24-hour adult and family courses, as well as tailor made team building programs, the Academy provides the opportunity to learn Bear's dynamic approach to self-rescue and rise to the same challenge of the celebrities. Techniques include fire lighting, emergency shelter building, knife skills, foraging for grubs and rodents, remote medical trauma, a range of dynamic activities including rappelling, traverses and scrambling, extreme weather survival, river crossings and of course Bear's famous Gross Eat challenge!

Arguably the most recognized face of survival and outdoor adventure, the Bear Grylls Survival Academy launched in the U.S. in June and July 2014. Three locations based in New York, California and Colorado offer outdoor enthusiasts across the country the chance to learn his extreme survival techniques with courses taking place in the Catskills Mountains, New York, Sierra Nevada Mountains near Yosemite National Park in California and the Colorado Rockies. Designed by Bear Grylls himself, the course will consist of several survival techniques and run by his close team of highly trained survival experts.
