Christopher Fischer

This summer Christopher Fischer Cashmere will create exhibits within its Southampton and East Hampton stores to showcase a select group of artisan designers that represent the American Northeast. Textile designer Rebecca Atwood, along with furniture design studios Richard Watson and O&G Studio, will have their wares on display and available for custom order throughout the 2013 summer season.

Limited edition hand painted pillows from Brooklyn-based textile designer Rebecca Atwood’s Blauvelt Collection will be available exclusively at Christopher Fischer’s  East Hampton locations.

Atwood’s Blauvelt Collection is deeply rooted in her everyday observations of life in Brooklyn, as well as her own heritage and upbringing on Cape Cod surrounded by the ocean, antiques and her family restaurant. Inspired by water and waves, city shadows and paint splatters, behind each design is a story drawn from Atwood’s family heirlooms, natural textures, vintage patterns discovered at flea markets, inspired color combinations from her travels or compositions that began in her sketchbook. Atwood layers these experiences, blending traditional textile techniques with hand painting, dyeing and printing, to create thoughtfully crafted products that are simple, yet luxurious.

Atwood’s pieces are designed to be casually elegant and practical at the same time, meant to be lived with and enjoyed. They are made of durable, but soft, natural fabrics including cotton canvas and twill, as well as natural and chambray linen.

Brookline, Massachusetts-based furniture design studio Richard Watson will be featured at Christopher Fischer’s East Hampton location.

Dedicated to creating modern heirlooms, designers Brooke Richard and Laura Watson created Richard Watson, a collection of contemporary handmade furniture, rooted in history and craftsmanship. Richard Watson draws inspiration from antique forms and is filled with warmth and authenticity, with a touch of the unexpected. The soul of Richard Watson lies in handcrafted details such as custom metalwork and hand finishing. Each piece is handmade by master craftsmen in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, using hardwoods, natural oil finishes, and old world construction techniques.

Select designs from the Richard Watson collection will be on display and available for custom order.

Six-year-old furniture company O&G Studio draws inspiration from the wisdom and inventiveness of traditional American design, combining hand-crafting techniques with rustic industrial forms and bright, wildly chic modern colors to produce contemporary designs that make life more comfortable and more beautiful. Founders Jonathan Glatt and Sara Ossana sought to create pieces that are relevant and fresh now, yet will last for a lifetime and will be passed down for generations. Glatt’s background in jewelry and metal fabrication, along with Ossana’s studies in interior architecture and theatrical set design, allow the duo to blend intricate detailing and experimentation with scale and proportion to bring traditional motifs into the 21st century.

Collaborating with local New England craftsman, O&G Studio has created a unique line of sustainable, American-made furnishings and accessories using locally sourced and fabricated materials. Underscoring their commitment to eco-conscious designs, all O&G Studio pieces qualify for LEED points, and VOC-free paint finishes are available upon request.

Pieces from O&G Studio’s current Collection will be on display and available for custom order.
