She’s not a size 0. Nor has she snapped back as quickly as some of her fellow first-time mommies (hi, Kristin Cavallari!). But the singer turned fashion mogul has lost nearly all of the 70 pounds she gained before giving birth to daughter Maxwell (with fiancé Eric Johnson, 33) on May 1. And Simpson — who has opened up about everything from her sex life to her bodily functions — has been refreshingly honest about her weight struggle. “It is definitely a challenge,” she said on Katie Couric’s talk show, Katie, in September. To meet it, the 5-foot-3 star, 32, has adhered to the Weight Watchers PointsPlus program and four-days-a-week training sessions. “I feel positive about how I’ve done so far and really good about the goals I have set,” the plan spokeswoman tells Us. And she’s not done yet. Says a source, “She’s still working toward a weight where she feels happiest and healthiest.”
As far as wedding plans go with fiancé and ex-NFL pro, Johnson, Simpson hasn’t said yes to a dress – or a wedding date! “She won’t set it until she has her body goals in sight,” a pal explains of the star’s upcoming nuptials.

Jef Holm is more interested in fame than being a stepfather. A source tells Hot Stuff his engagement to Bachelorette Emily Maynard (single mom to Ricki, 7) unraveled partially because Holm, 28, “was always choosing to go to Hollywood events, like Dancing With the Stars, instead of hanging out with Emily and her daughter.” But Holm saved his most offensive move for after the split. Maynard, 26, has learned he was shopping a tell-all to magazines. “Reporters were calling her, asking, ‘Will you comment on the story?’” says the source. “She was blindsided.” Unbelievably, however, the pair have not severed ties. They even reunited October 21 in Charlotte, North Carolina. “They are separating slowly for Ricki’s sake,” explains a second Maynard friend. “But they’re not getting back together.”

Ambien? A white-noise machine? That’s kid stuff for a sleepy Mariah Carey. The American Idol diva arranged an eight-hour rubdown while she got shut-eye at her L.A. mansion September 29. “The masseuse made $1,500,” a source tells Hot Stuff. Plus, Carey had a seriously kooky request: “She insisted Brüno play on repeat,” adds the insider. “It looped the entire time!”
