Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City and the renowned Tribeca Film Festival are bringing cinema back to the shore with the return of the Tribeca Cinema Series from Thursday, July 12th through Sunday, July 15th. The event, taking place at Caesars beachfront, will screen a curated selection of independent films featuring performances from noted actors including Jenna Fischer, Martin Sheen, and Demián Bichir. All of the screenings are free and open to the public.

The Tribeca Cinema Series will redefine what it means to go to the movies with this alternative and exciting seaside event. Guests can enjoy themselves as the sun sets on the beaches of Atlantic City to watch acclaimed independent films on a 33 feet long by 20 feet tall screen.

The films slated for the event include “The Giant Mechanical Man,” directed and written by Lee Kirk; “The Runway,” directed and written by Ian Power; “388 Arletta Avenue,” directed and written by Randall Cole; and “Stella Days,” directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan and written by Antoine O'Flatharta. All screenings will begin at sundown and will be held on the Caesars property beach at Arkansas Ave.

“We are thrilled to work with the Tribeca Film Festival once again and bring back the Tribeca Cinema Series to Caesars Atlantic City,” said Don Marrandino, Eastern Division President for Caesars Entertainment. “Each year, the event provides visitors and residents with an incredible opportunity to enjoy celebrated films in a picturesque seaside setting and enforces why Caesars Atlantic City is a leader in providing exceptional entertainment options.”

While in town, film-goers can visit Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar to enjoy cocktails and delicious food such as Spicy Jersey Shore Fries, Sea Salt Spiced Peel & Eat Shrimp and Wabo Wings and Burgers. In addition, specialty popcorn will be available throughout the series in a variety of appealing flavors, including Cajun, parmesan, chocolate drizzle, and caramel almond. Those looking for weekend-long entertainment can also take advantage of Caesars’ accommodations, and spend a few days enjoying the full range of entertainment and nightlife options the resort has to offer, from dancing all night at Dusk nightclub to the total tranquility offered by Qua Baths & Spa.

“We are proud to once again partner with Caesars Atlantic City to bring a wide range of independent films to this wonderful beachside setting,” said Patty Newburger, SVP, Tribeca Enterprises. “We hope to continue this incredible partnership for years to come.”

Synopsis: In this charming comedy, Oscar-nominee Demián Bichir (A BETTER LIFE, “Weeds”) stars as Ernesto, a Colombian pilot whose plane has crashed in a small Irish village. Not able to speak a word of English, a precocious 9-year old boy named Paco, the only one in his town who knows Spanish, becomes his translator. Rewriting Ernesto’s mysterious and questionable past, Paco turns him into a hero and a celebrity, motivating the entire town to rally behind Ernesto to help rebuild his plane. When a seedy Colombian detective arrives and threatens to reveal a dark secret about Ernesto, the town begins to question who they can trust. Inspired by true events, THE RUNWAY tells the story of a boy needing a father, a man wanting a family, and a town willing to do anything for a hero.

Director: Thaddeus O'Sullivan

Cast: Martin Sheen, Stephen Rea, Tristan Gravelle, Marcella Plunkett, Joseph O'Sullivan, Tom Hickey, Derble Crotty, Amy Huberman, Ruth McCabe

Synopsis: A small town cinema in rural Ireland in the 1950s becomes the setting for a dramatic struggle between Rome and Hollywood, and a man and his conscience. Martin Sheen (THE WAY, THE DEPARTED, “The West Wing”) stars as Father Daniel Berry in a story about the excitement of the unknown versus the security of the familiar, as those in the town find themselves on the cusp of the modern but still clinging to the traditions of church and a cultural identity forged in very different times.

The Giant Mechanical Man

Date: Saturday, July 14, 2012

Director: Lee Kirk

Screenwriter: Lee Kirk

Cast: Jenna Fischer, Chris Messina, Topher Grace, Malin Akerman, Rich Sommer, Lucy Punch, Bob Odenkirk

Synopsis: Giant Mechanical Man is a charming comedic love story between Janice (Jenna Fischer), a woman in her 30’s who has yet to learn how to navigate adulthood, and Tim (Chris Messina), a devoted artist who finds that his unique talents as a silver-painted street performer don’t exactly pay the bills. Evicted from her apartment and forced to move in with her overbearing sister (Malin Akerman), Janice is on the receiving end of well-intentioned but misguided pressure to date an egotistical self-help guru (Topher Grace). Everyone seems to know what’s best for Janice, but Tim helps her find her own voice and realize that it only takes one person to make you feel important. As a symbol of the urge to break free from a life defined for us, The Giant Mechanical Man brings forward an optimism and feeling of belonging that can only come from falling in love.

Cast: Nick Stahl, Devon Sawa, Mia Kirshner

Synopsis: In this fresh, subversive take on the found-footage horror genre from the makers of SPLICE and CUBE, a faceless voyeur’s twisted manipulation of a young couple escalates into a deadly cat-and-mouse game, as seen from the perspective of hidden cameras he’s concealed throughout their house.
