The young crowd can learn a thing or two from the original trailblazers of the New York avante garde underground who are still going strong as proven by Debbbie Harry’s performance at W.I.P. Work In Progress last night. It was new school’s Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, actress Parker Posey, DJ Becka Diamond, and original designer of the music inspired L.A.M.B. line Zaldy, meets old school’s fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, writer Anthony Haden-Guest, and restaurateur Richard Notar. The mix of hipsters and kids inspired by the infamous Studio 54 era are now pioneering their respective industries with W.I.P. as an incubator for creativity. Legends Penny Arcade and Bob Gruen was also there, showing hip never dies.
