Kensington Publishing Corp. announced today that KILL SWITCH, the highly-anticipated debut novel by award-winning television producers Neal Baer and Jonathan Greene, is now in early development as a major motion picture. Award-winning actress Katherine Heigl is attached to star in the film, which will be produced by Kevin McCormick with Katherine and Nancy Heigl via their Abishag Productions.
On sale December 13, 2011, KILL SWITCH is the first in a series of high-concept suspense novels by Neal Baer and Jonathan Greene, the producers behind the hit television dramas “Law & Order: SVU,” “ER” and the new CBS show, “A Gifted Man.” It introduces the unforgettable character of Dr. Claire Waters, a brilliant, young forensic psychiatrist who will be played by Katherine Heigl. With her unnervingly personal insights into the criminal mind, Claire is drawn to the rare “untreatable” patients who seem to have no conscience or fear. She believes that by understanding what motivates violent criminals, she can help prevent them from committing further crimes. But one shocking case could make or break her career—and it’s waiting for her in the psychiatric wing of New York City’s Rikers Island.
KATHERINE HEIGL became a box-office sensation starring first in Judd Apatow’s smash hit comedy, Knocked Up, followed by a starring turn with Ed Burns and James Marsden in 27 Dresses, and then opposite Gerard Butler in the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth, which she also executive produced. These earned Heigl “Female Star of the Year” honors at the 2010 ShoWest awards. In December 2011, she stars in Gary Marshall’s New Year’s Eve opposite Jon Bon Jovi, and in January she will star as bounty hunter Stephanie Plum in One for the Money, which she executive produced via her production company Abishag. Under the Abishag banner, she will star in The Knitting Circle for HBO Films, executive producing the project with her mother and producing partner, Nancy Heigl. Abishag also just announced that they will partner with Lakeshore Entertainment and CBS TV Studios to executive produce an original series, Trending, for The CW Network. Heigl recently completed filming The Wedding with Robert DeNiro and Diane Keaton. Her additional film credits include Life As We Know It, Killers, The Ringer, critically acclaimed King of the Hill and My Father the Hero, opposite Gerard Depardieu, her film debut.
