SNL'S FATHER GUIDO SARDUCCI AT RESORTS

Joe Piscopo

Audiences should prepare for a long overdue confession as the one and only Father Guido Sarducci takes the stage of the new Club Piscopo. Resorts Casino Hotel announced today that the Saturday Night Live original will reunite with fellow SNL alum Joe Piscopo when Father Guido Sarducci performs July 14 -17.

“I am honored that Father Sarducci is coming all the way from the Vatican to perform for the good folks at Club Piscopo at Resorts!” said Joe Piscopo. “We perform around the country together, and I’m looking forward to getting back on stage with him and sharing his vast talents with the audiences at Club Piscopo. I will promise you this – the audience is in for quite a show.”

A chain-smoking priest with tinted eyeglasses, Sarducci worked in the United States as gossip columnist and rock critic for the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano and later, as Assistant Managing Editor for The Vatican Enquirer. Father Sarducci soon became widely recognized and loved as a result of his many appearances on Saturday Night Live in the late ‘70s.

Club Piscopo features a variety of acts, comedians and bands that entertain audiences Thursday through Sunday. The format includes regular appearances by Joe Piscopo and other well-known entertainers, such as jazz artists, musicians and up-and-coming comedians. Entertainment is provided prior to and immediately after the show for guests’ relaxation and enjoyment.

Known for his hilarious Saturday Night Live skits and roles in feature films like Wise Guys and Johnny Dangerously, Piscopo is an American comedy icon. Whether he is starring on Broadway, doing his best Frank Sinatra (Sinatra himself even endorsed him as the Vice-Chairman of the Board) or on a movie/TV set, Piscopo always brings his A-game and that often leaves onlookers rolling in the aisles. Piscopo has a strong history of charitable work and was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award from Big Brothers Big Sisters, received community service awards from the Boys and Girls Club and was recognized by the Boy’s Town of Italy in Rome. Additionally, he has started his own non-profit organization, The Positive Impact Foundation, which creates positive media for at-risk youth, including the syndicated television show for teens, Positive Image TV.

Club Piscopo opens at 8 p.m. with shows beginning at 9 p.m. Tickets are priced at $25 for general admission and $35 for stage seating. Special VIP areas are also available. Tickets can be purchased through Resorts’ Box Office or through Ticketmaster at 1.800.736.1420 or www.ticketmaster.com.
