Celebrity Hairstylist Natasha Sunshine-Antonioni

Blends Health & Style At L.A.’s BYU-TI Salon

510 Wilshire Blvd
Santa Monica, CA 90401

The Healing Haircut By Byu-Ti’s Natasha Sunshine-Antonioni

As Founder of Santa Monica’s premier hair boutique, Byu-Ti Salon (pronounced beauty), Natasha Sunshine-Antonioni has run her fingers through some of Hollywood’s most notable manes, including that of Ivanka Trump, Molly Sims and Eva Herzigova. Known in Los Angeles and New York City fashion circles for her keen sense of style and unique approach to hair therapy, Natasha created a six-step consulting system to identify and meet the needs of her high-profile clientele, and also developed her own exclusive collection of hair care products.

Natasha began her love affair with beauty at a young age while watching her Aunt work her hair magic, in her French Quarter Salon and her ability not only to make people look better, but more importantly feel better inside and out. At the young age of five, she made a promise to herself to do the same when she grew up. Nearly thirty years later, Natasha is still striving to GIVE GOODNESS to the world around her. When Natasha is not helping people feel fabulous from the inside out, or making herself camera-ready for a television appearance (most recently, The Rachel Ray Show), she is working as an industry leader and educator for L’Oreal’s exclusive hair care line Pureology.

Among the truly unique beauty treatments that Natasha has created throughout her career, setting herself apart within the industry, is the Healing Haircut— equal parents restorative meditation and beauty treatment, a Healing Haircut combines a cut with massage, reiki and acupressure. The treatment begins with a question: what would you like to let go of? Next, the client is asked to imagine eschewing such with the cutting away of hair. The ‘healing’ portion of the process follows, then the cutting begins. With such focus on developing beauty from within as well as out, Natasha has also developed Byu-Niu, the healthy hair vitamin that helps tresses grow up-to-twice as fast as it would on its own. Natasha’s creative approach to beauty and start-to-finish hair therapy is also evident in the work of her salon— the smoothie bar meets the beauty salon! Enhancing the properties and healing of hair, Byu-ti boasts six different carefully-crafted Byu-ti Blenders that can be added to any conditioner. Custom blended at the in-house byu-ti- bar, each treatment is blended with a Pureology Masque, customized for the clients’ needs. Natasha has also developed a 6-Step Consulting System to assist her expert staff in finding out exactly what the client's needs are.

A full-service beauty salon, Byu-Ti provides clients with more than just a beautifying experience. From the wholesome ingredients to the services provided, the goal is to “serve” with integrity, excellence and professionalism. A clean white-and-chocolate brown color palette highlighted with bursts of bright hues, Byu-Ti Salon blends a California-cool aesthetic with cutting-edge beauty with a chic air of sophistication. Jack Armstrong

Cosmic artist Jack Armstrong has painted a Harley Davidson that will be unveiled at a gala event October 21 at Bartels' Harley-Davidson in Marina Del Rey, California. Armstrong, of whom Andy Warhol said, "After I am gone you will be the last wizard," believes he has a power to create that is, somehow, tied to the stars, the cosmos and, for the record, that is why he says he is a "cosmic artist." The uniqueness of this project comes from the simple fact that this is the first Harley ever to be painted by any artist. It will sell for $1.1 million. A portion of the sale price will go to Desert ARC, an organization in Palm Springs (Armstrong's home) that serves the developmentally disabled. Why a Harley? Armstrong recalls, "I rode my first Harley in Chicago outside the Drake Hotel and I was hooked! Magic! A legendary machine! Sitting on my first Harley it was sex, drugs and rock and roll. I thought I was Keith Richards, James Dean and Steve McQueen. I found that the Harley rider is plugged into a different kind of current. The way the girls look at you, you are a movie star. "

And, speaking of stars, many of those who are Harley fans are customers of Bill Bartels' at his dealership. They have been invited to the October 21 event. For information, visit and

Tony Curtis

Hollywood legend Tony Curtis is dead at 85. The star suffered a cardiac arrest he had last night. Curtis starred in "The Sweet Smell of Success," "The Defiant Ones," "Spartacus," and "Some Like it Hot" with movie icon Marilyn Monroe. His wife at his side.

Editors Note: Having met Tony a few times over the years, this guy was a gem. He was always polite and always laughing. The last time I saw him was years ago at the now closed Tunnel Nightclub in New York City. The guy was full of jokes and did everything to make sure I got the pictures I needed. We don't have stars like Tony Curtis anymore. The guy was not only talented, he had class. He knew it was a two way street with the stars and the media. He went out of his way to talk to everyone and to pose for the photographers. What I really liked about Tony, was his sense of humor. He would joke and laugh and just really enjoyed hanging out and chatting with people. I remember standing in the middle of the club, thinking to myself, here I was with the star that I grew up watching in the movies. Here I was talking to him and laughing with him. It was a moment I will never forget. The world has lost another legend, another real star. Rest in peace Tony!

The World Sky Race

The World Sky Race will debut on two Jumbotrons in Times Square September 30 and October 1, 2010. The World Sky Race 2011-2012 is a first of its kind, historic, grand and epic aviation adventure of competing teams flying lighter-than-air skyships, blimps and zeppelins. The race will go around the world in 180 days. The World Sky Race was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal ,September 16, 2010.

The inaugural race starts on the Greenwich Prime Meridian in London September 2011. The World Sky Race will consist of 18 individual rally segments with each start and finish being a race leg. The airships will dominate the skies as they completely circle around the globe. In the final race segment the competing teams return to the Prime Meridian. The best cumulative time will be crowned the World Sky Champion.

Patrick Harvey, Vice President Journey West Media, says, "The encompassing vision of the World Sky Race is an amazing journey to the summit of our imagination. It is simple, yet audacious. It will remind us to look up and look for what is beyond the horizon."

In terms of being big, the World Sky Race is BIG. The World Air League is headquartered in Houston, Texas. During the opening of the World Air League Headquarters in Houston City Hall, Don Hartsell, World Air League Commissioner and Texan, said "It is simple, in Texas, we think BIG. This is how BIG the World Sky Race will be. The World Sky Race will be the largest man-made sporting and entertainment event seen by the largest number of live spectators in the entire history of the whole human race. That is BIG!" From its initial start in Texas, the World Air League has grown to having local organizing representatives in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Jordan, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, India, Malaysia, Mexico, California and New York.

The World Sky Race is both retro and modern. It starts with the most exotic alluring international adventures of the 1930's and transforms them into today's viral paced out of this world and back networking connections. UNESCO is a partner to the World Sky Race and will provide aerial access to more than 130+ iconic and monumental World Heritage Sites to chart the race route. Some of the historic and dramatic highlights will include: flying over Versailles Palace; landing next to the Great Pyramids; cruising above the Taj Mahal; and saluting the Statute of Liberty. "We're treating this as part of our communications strategy," says Francesco Bandarin, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture. "As an international competition of lighter- than-air skyships, this race will serve not only to provide sporting excitement, it will also provide a means of highlighting the diversity of peoples and places around the world." Adding to the UNESCO sites, the World Sky race will include many of the world's iconic wonders by: flying past Big Ben; circling the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and Mt. Fujiyama in Japan; using the skies above the Golden Gate Bridge; touching down at the NASA Johnson Space Center; and more.

As part of today's global awareness, the World Sky Race is a Green Race. New environmental technologies will be tested for durability and performance. The lighter than air flying machines in the race will use less fuel than jets or airplanes. Estimates are savings of 90%+ of fuel when compared to airplanes. The airships are already in the air! They do not need to use fuel to get up in the air.

Advisers to the World Air League include: His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein Royal Patron for the World Sky Race in Jordan; Jean-Michel Jarre, Artist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and Norman R. Augustine, PhD., Retired Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin. Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary General Egypt Supreme Council of Antiquities has provided his permission for the World Sky Race teams to land at the Great Pyramids. The Royal Mint of Malaysia is to mint gold and silver bullion commemorative coins for each of the World Sky Race Host City Sites. According to Alan Valdes, Member of the Explorers Club, Member of the Wall Street Exchange and Advisor to the World Air League, "The World Sky Race is about moving forward and looking UP!"

Jerry Springer's Pig Bella

Someone is either a dog person or a cat person; rarely are they both. Whichever pet one prefers, people are fiercely loyal and don’t seem to understand their counterpart’s love of the other breed. Today two media giants are in competition on who has the most beautiful pet. If I set it up correctly, you can vote in the survey here..... If I did not, then just send me an e-mail or comment on the blog.

This latest battle came about because of WCIU-TV which runs a daily animal “beauty pageant,” ( that they say will answer the age-old question of which pet has household supremacy. The contest is called “Cats vs. Dogs,” but on September 27th a battle was held between a cat and a pig. Bella, the pig, is owned by talk show host Jerry Springer whose show airs on WCIU-TV. The cat is owned by former Sun-Times columnist Robert Feder, who has a blog on the WBEZ site.

All day on Tuesday, like in actual Chicago politics, there were accusations of unfair lobbying, voter fraud and influence peddling flying back and forth between the candidates and their supporters. Some claimed that WCIU tried to manipulate the vote by a headline on their web site which read, “"Vote for Springer's Pig!" plus they ran a video of Jerry being interviewed about Bella. Others pointed out that Feder asked for votes for Kramer in his own column.

While the lead teetered back and forth all day, at the close of balloting, Kramer won by a vote of 927 vs. 822.

Hearing about the contest, another media personality challenged feline Kramer to a real contest versus a dog. The story unfolds below.

The dog pictured is Bobby, 10, who is an Australian Terrier, not a Yorkie with a thyroid problem. Bobby is his name, but since he is not fussy, he will answer to Bob, Rob or Robert, as long as the person is holding a dog treat.

He is owned by WLS radio personality, Jake Hartford who has, according to his official bio, “Amid the intense backbiting, crushed egos, shattered careers and rampant paranoia & suspicion so prevalent in the radio business, Jake Hartford after many long years, clawed his way to the top of the Saturday morning broadcast heap on 890AM WLS.”

Kramer, 9, is a Persian cat. While you can tangle a pet's name with Bob, etc., grownups know Mr. Feder is Robert or Rob to those who know him. When you hear people try to make off like they are great personal friends with him and refer to him as Bob or Bobby, you know they don't know him at all. According to his Vocalo bio,”He has been keeping tabs on the media in Chicago for 30 years. A lifelong Chicagoan and graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, he was television and radio columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. At age 14, he founded the first and only Walter Cronkite Fan Club”

Now you know the combatants

To help make your decision in voting, Jake wanted me to relate the following story.

Jake Hartford does not like cats. He told me, “When I was a young boy my mother was going to make a birthday cake for me. She left the two layers out to cool before she frosted them. I got home from school to find our Persian cat, Snowball, eating the middle of the cake. My mother tried to fill the cavity with more frosting, but it wasn't the same. Hated cats ever since. This contest has ripped the scab off that emotional scar. I have that mental picture of the cat on top of the counter eating the cake when I got home seared into my brain. Can't remember the first girl I had sex with but I remember the cat on the cake.”

Robert Feder’s response: "Like his sitcom namesake, Kramer is the coolest cat around. And he knows it. P.S. I sincerely hope Jake gets help for his problem."

Let the battle begin. Eat, love or spay.

Editors Note: Since I have Known Jerry Springer for years, Im going with his pig. There is no where to vote on Planet Posners site for Jerry's Pig, so I'm calling for a write in vote. Since Posner loves pork chops, I'm warning Jerry that if Bella disappears, she is the prime suspect. When Posner said the other day, "Today's pig is tomorrows pork", I thought she was talking about the Chicago police. Now I know the truth.....

Lon Van Eaton

Lon Van Eaton was one of the first singer/songwriters signed to The Beatles’ historic music company, Apple Records in the 1970s. One of his songs, “Sweet Music,” which he recorded with his brother Derrek, will be featured on a new compilation album, entitled Come and Get It: The Best of Apple Records, due in stores on October 26, 2010. The Lon & Derrek Van Eaton hit song “Sweet Music” is culled from the highly acclaimed album—Brother—which is now in high demand by Apple-era vinyl record collectors. It was produced by George Harrison, and features Ringo Starr on drums. Lon and Derrek’s song will be in very good company on Come and Get It, as the album also includes exciting Apple tracks by James Taylor, Badfinger, Mary Hopkins, Billy Preston, and Ronnie Spector. Since his days at Apple Records, Lon appeared on hit solo albums by Martha Reeves, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Harry Nilsson. According to Lon, “Even though I have had a multi-media career in the entertainment business that spans four decades, I will forever be associated with The Beatles, which is a great distinction. Hopefully this long-awaited Apple compilation album is going to help launch several new projects I have up my sleeve!”
