Madame Paulette

John Mahdessian wants to be clear that Madame Paulette® is not just a dry cleaner: “That’s like calling a world-renowned surgeon a doctor.”

For the past 50 years, his company Madame Paulette® has developed patented techniques that have made them a leader and pioneer in the custom couture and interior textile cleaning industry. He counts as clients the major auction house duo Christie’s and Sotheby’s, international designers like Vera Wang and Christian Dior, and A-list celebrities such as Alicia Keys and Kelly Ripa.

John is not just committed to transforming articles of clothing, but also the lives of those less fortunate. John’s star-studded rolodex of clients and friends made for an effortless transition into his more recent role as a philanthropic leader. John has proven to be an impressive fundraiser in his role as the Chairman of the Board for Fashion Donations. He has created partnerships with Cancer 101®, the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, and the New York Presbyterian New Leaders.

When the American Liver Foundation honored John the Spirit of New York Award, he made clear in his acceptance speech that charity runs in the family. His grandfather was a Mason, and a Knight of Vartan, where he was a leader in the Armenian community. His father supports seven students in Cyprus, and his mother is active to the Daughters of Vartan; she was recently awarded for her life of service.

John also uses the services of his company to help. John and the Madame Paulette® Organization professionally and meticulously cleaned the dresses exhibited (and later auctioned) for Swarovski Elements’ 22 Ways to Say Black, which benefited the American Cancer Society— John was also the winning bidder for one of the exclusive frocks. At the New Yorkers for Children Fall Gala, John led the Madame Paulette® team in donating cleaned and tailored suites for twenty different children. John’s next unique project will use his store windows to showcase clothes specially designed by the world’s top designers for a charity auction.

Madame Paulette® has also made innumerable donations to different charitable organizations, such as the Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation, the New York Junior League, and the Armenia Tree Project. John also supports the Fraternal Order of Police, and is an Associate Member of the New Jersey State Law Enforcement Agency.

It just goes to show that there is more to life than just being rich and famous. Right?
