Judy Kuriansky And Ricky Martin

Noted sex doc and LovePhones radio show advice host Dr. Judy Kuriansky reunited with hot pop star Kylie Minoque at the Black Tie/Black Leather fundraiser for amFAR New York Public Library. They met years ago at Kylie's sister Danni’s wedding to Julian McMahon in Melbourne Australia. Changed from the fashion-forward thigh high-slit couture Kylie wore on the red carpet to a strapless black and white gown, Kylie was delighted to recall how she once arrived from abroad in unexpectedly cold New York weather and borrowed Dr. Judy’s warm coat. The “fashion impaired and fashion inspired” New York glitterati black-tie guests at the “Inspiration”-titled/Josh Wood production gala were treated to Wilhemina male models strutting 49 different looks, including Kenneth Cole, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and Hugo Boss Leather Looks, Marc Jacobs Sporty Looks, and scene-stealing outfits accented with spaceship-inspired head or neck gear or with waistcoats reminiscent of Stevie Nicks/Vivienne Westwood/goth with puffed shoulders and flowing train. Awardee UN Global Ambassador and just-self-outed Ricky Martin, honored for his philanthropy to pediatric AIDS, lamented the “horrible battle with human trafficking” said recalled his encounter with a 14-year old girl he met in Cambodia who was pregnant and infected with HIV. “I’m going to take it [the award] to Cambodia and give it to her,” he told the audience. In accepting his award, hot designer Jean-Paul Gautier said that “20 years ago, my boyfriend died from AIDS.” Noted for his early Madonna gender-bending style-setting sensations combining cone bras and leather strapping, JP explained, “I am for égalité of sex,” elaborating that in women there is a part of masculinity and in men there is a part of sensibility and that his style is inspired “to show men can also be seductive.” Sitting next to Dr. Judy was New York Times style journalist Sarah Nir, who noted to style.com reporter Darrell Hartmen and Annie Liebovitz’s personal assistant Christopher Peregrin – featured in Nir’s upcoming Times article this Thursday -- that Dr Judy “sculpted the sexual landscape of youth” through her LovePhones show. Cyndi Lauper, M-A-C VIVA GLAM spokesperson wowed the crowd with “Girls Just want to Have Fun” and “True Colors.” Much progress has been made in AIDS prevention and treatment, it was noted, “there is still am-far from where we need to be.” Through all the quips of the night, the most compelling quotable, referring to the evening fashion, was “the most beautiful outfit of the evening is clearly – the condom!”
