The other night a new queen was crowned and walked the famous runway blowing kisses to a cheering crowd. Miss Michelle Dupree (Scott Cooper) had won over the crowd, as well as the judges, to win the crown and be named Atlantic City’s 2010 Miss’d America. The seven contestants made for a tough decision but in the end Miss Dupree walked away the clear winner. Her court: first runner up Miss Vanessa Sterling (Brian Pollack) and second runner up Dee LaMour (Dan Caldwell). Miss Dupree stood out among the swimwear competition with her convincing portrayal of Marilyn Monroe, and her 30,000 rhinestone lavender gown was a hit during the evening wear segment. But she stole the show during the talent competition with a scat number that brought the crowd of 1,181 to their feet. Miss Dupree is a registered nurse, clinical educator, and the proud father of his 15 month-old son, Anthony Jack, whom she dedicated her performance to earlier in the evening. Miss Dupree will hold the Miss’d America title until a new queen is named in 2011. She also walks away with the official Miss’d America crown, flowers and various prizes. As reigning Miss’d America, she will be available to make special appearances throughout the year. But the true winners of the charity event will be those benefiting from the profits: The Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance, The Schultz-Hill Scholarship Foundation, The William Way Center of Philadelphia, Broadway Cares-Equity Fights AIDS of New York City, and the South Jersey AIDS Alliance. The pageant raised $30,000, which will be divided among the charities. Trump Entertainment Resorts and Harrah’s Entertainment presented the 2010 Miss’d America Pageant. The title sponsor of the event was Grey Goose Vodka. The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority and the Schultz-Hill Foundation were participating sponsors.
