BRYANT GUMBEL HAS LUNG TUMOR REMOVED

Television icon Bryant Gumbel admitted yesterday that he's recovering from surgery to remove a malignant tumor in his chest cavity, right near his lung. In his comments on Live with Regis & Kelly, where he's substituting this week for co-host Regis Philbin, Gumbel brought it up to co-host Kelly Ripa and said that he preferred to keep his condition private. Sean Cassidy, a spokesman for Gumbel, told media outlets that Gumbel's prognosis is good. "He had some lung tissue removed. ... He had a malignant tumor next to the lung and not lung cancer."
