Legendary soap opera As The World Turns has been canceled. After only three months after long running show the "Guiding Light" aired its final episode, CBS announced yesterday that it will also can "As the World Turns" in September, after 54 years and more than 13,000 episodes. Its cancellation will leave CBS with only two soap operas, "The Young and the Restless," and "The Bold and the Beautiful." As The World Turns launched in 1956 and is the oldest of the remaining broadcast soap operas, had long been rumored to be the next CBS casualty.
