AMOY PITTERS CARES FOR THE WORLDS STARS

Amoy Pitters

A New York beauty industry veteran with over sixteen years of experience, Amoy Pitters has had a passion – and natural talent – for the worlds of hair, beauty and fashion since the start of her career. Her impressive roster of celebrity clientele includes Naomi Campbell, Sheryl Crow, Ashanti, Ciara, Iman, Rihanna, Joy Bryant, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige and The Pussycat Dolls among many others. Following her enrollment in beauty school immediately upon high school graduation, Amoy launched her exciting career as a sought-after hair stylist in the fashion industry, Amoy booked her career-first fashion show in Paris, styling the locks of the runway models for the Christian Dior couture collection in January 1998. There, recognizing her unique skill set, Amoy was asked by the show’s production team to style the house’s legendary designer John Galliano’s own hair for his final bow. Soon after, Galliano himself began requesting Amoy as his personal hairstylist. Fashion maven Donatella Versace was next in line, after taking notice of Galliano’s newly styled locks. From there, Amoy was in-demand worldwide, styling hair for editorials and fashion shows, and transforming the looks of supermodels, Hollywood starlets, iconic fashion designers, Grammy award-wining musicians and, of course, her everyday clients who occupied the chairs Amoy rented in various salons before opening a salon of her very own for the first time in New York City’s East Village. Amoy’s special brand of expertise sets her apart from others in the industry. One of Amoy’s most sought-after signature styles is extensions. A style that is done through various methods, Amoy has perfected a number of techniques— sew-in (a process in which the natural hair is braided into a cornrow and the extensions are sewn onto the braid; the natural locks are completely protected from coloring and styling and are able to go from short-to-long, or long-to-short, without cutting or altering its natural state); interlocking (a technique in which the client’s hair is sewn down on the top of the weft; the process does not involve cornrowing, bonding, heat or adhesive and results in a very flexible style); and great length extensions (the method bonds individual extensions to sections of the natural hair with keratin, blending with the client’s natural locks; the process does not involve sewing or gluing). Amoy’s one-of-a-kind approach to this complicated beauty procedure is known for creating beautiful looks that are easily maintained, modified and recognized in the industry as Amoy’s trademark. Unlike many other stylists, Amoy’s hands-on method of developing her techniques includes practices her styling techniques on herself before applying them on clients. Following such an approach allows Amoy to develop and discover new cuts, shapes and colors, ensuring that her style and vision are always evolving.
