SUPERSTAR CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO DEAD AT 76

Captain Lou Albano

Our old favorite wrestling personality Captain Lou Albano has died at the age of 76. The captain was placed under hospice care this week after being sent home from the hospital. The wrestling superstar he had a career that spanned over fifty years in the entertainment business. Albano transformed himself into a loud flamboyant wrestler after he was advised to do so by famed wrestler Bruno Sammartino. He then became a wrestling villain earning the scorn of the wrestling audience worldwide. Within that time Albano managed over 50 different wrestlers who won two dozen championships.in the 1980's Lou gained a whole new audience of folks that did not watch wrestling by appearing in Cyndi Lauper's music videos "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "She Bop", "Time After Time" and "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough". He then had a acting career, appearing in many movies and television shows. In the 1990's Albano lost 150 pounds and became a vegetarian following a serious health scare. In may of 2005, Albano suffered a heart attack but recovered soon after. He also was included in the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.

Editors Extra: I first Met Captain Lou Albano at the famed club Studio 54 in New York City. He was with Cyndi Lauper and Hulk Hogan. The guy was a real nice guy. He talked and posed for photos with all the fans, and there were tons. One of my favorite shots till this day that I took, was Lou and Cyndi looking up to the disco ball on the famous dance floor. It's a shame all our old work is in storage, we loved that shot. The guy had class. He may have played a bad guy, but in real life there was no one nicer. He will be missed!
