Legendary talk-show host and iconic entertainment personality Jerry Springer will host AMERICA’S GOT TALENT LIVE, the live version of NBC’s top-rated family entertainment show produced by FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell’s SYCO TV, it was jointly announced today by Andy Felsher, SVP, Games, Entertainment and Live Events for FremantleMedia Enterprises, and Thomas McCartney, President and CEO of Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino.In addition to hosting the top-rated second and third seasons of America’s Got Talent before leaving the series to portray the flamboyant lawyer ‘Billy Flynn’ in the West End and Broadway smash hit productions of “Chicago” – where he is currently starring until September 6, 2009, Jerry experienced his first taste of presenting live shows last October when he hosted a sold out one-off America’s Got Talent Live spectacular in Las Vegas. “Jerry is the ideal master of ceremonies for the Vegas live Show,” said Felsher in making the announcement. “His passion for the brand is almost palpable, and the eclectic and enthusiastic Vegas audiences will love his star quality and quick wit. In addition to talk-show host, he has been mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster, country recording artist, international emcee, television personality, movie star, Broadway actor, progressive talk-radio broadcaster.In 2006, Springer added ballroom dancing to his list of accomplishments as he joined the cast of the hugely popular television series “Dancing with the Stars.” The multi-faceted Springer, who has a passion for politics, was named Ohio Democrat of the Year, and represented Ohio as Delegate-at-Large for the 2004 Democratic National Convention. A regular guest on the talk-show circuit, Springer has appeared on various prominent television shows, including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Daily Show,” MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” and “The View.” Today, because of the lasting popularity of his talk show, Springer is a favorite guest speaker throughout college campuses in the U.S. In recent years, Springer was welcomed at Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, Northwestern, the University of Miami, University of Southern California, San Francisco State, Emory University, George Washington University, American University, and his undergraduate alma mater, Tulane University.“Ringmaster,” penned by Springer, hit bookstore shelves in November 1998 and was a personal account of his experiences along with remembrances from his childhood and professional career. Also in November 1998, Springer made his first venture into feature films, starring in “Ringmaster,” a fictionalized movie chronicling his television talk show. In 1999, Springer worked with Mike Myers, where he portrayed himself in the hit film “Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me.” Springer also has graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Esquire, New York Magazine and Sarasota Magazine and was featured in Vanity Fair’s “Vanities.” Barbara Walters chose Springer as one of the10 Most Fascinating People in her 1998 Special.
