Bench From The Spirit Song Collection

Diamond Teak, a leading designer and manufacturer of teak furniture recognized for innovation and unique artistic vision, was one of the key sponsors of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field, and the supplier of the beautiful, artistic pieces showcased in the VIP tent. Pieces from Diamond Teak’s Spirit Song Collection, an exquisite line of heirloom furniture, graced the tent all summer long—enjoyed by celebrities such as Jon & Kate Plus 8’s Jon Gosselin, Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, reality television star Kourtney Kardashian and boyfriend Scott Disick, Desperate Housewives’ Kyle MacLachlan, Beth Ostrosky, Star Jones, former co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios Ben Silverman, True Beauty’s NolĂ© Marin, racecar driver Tim George Jr., actor Sebastian Stam, Michael Lohan, Dina Lohan, Erin Muller and the Real Housewives of New York City’s Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen, Jill and Bobby Zarin, Ramona and Mario Singer, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, and Kelly Killoren Bensimon. The story of Diamond Teak grew out of a desire to help and serve others. Kevin and Christine Yardley, two Harvard graduates and newlyweds, both volunteered to teach English for the World Teach Organization in Costa Rica. Because there was no guarantee of them being stationed in the same area, Christine became a teacher in the program while Kevin began dedicating his energy to protecting the environment in an entrepreneurial way. In 1992, Diamond Teak bought their first farm and began planting teak. They now have over 12 plantations, protecting over 1.000 acres of jungle terrain. Diamond Teak is an end result of this process—the finest teak wood furniture from the best wood hand-selected by master crafts people. Over the years, Diamond Teak has accrued a broad range of elite clients, from Hollywood stars such as Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, and Sarah Jessica Parker, business luminary Michael Dell—CEO of Dell Inc., and heads of states such as the Prime Minister of Turkey and the King of Jordan. Recognized for creativity, originality and function, this American-owned 18-year-old business is the first furniture company to make a net positive contribution to the environment. Diamond Teak is dedicated to producing affordable pieces of functional art while also enriching the environment and creating jobs to empower the Costa Rican community. Founders Kevin and Christine Yardley, with Partner Juan Dihigo, collaborate with artistic designers to create exceptional collections such as Spirit Song, making each Diamond Teak design a vision fully realized. Diamond Teak brings an environmentally-conscious perspective to the Hamptons crowd. Barbara and Robert Tiffany who designed the Spirit Song Collection create beautiful, elegant curves that mimic organic forms in nature. Complementing settings from peaceful woodland retreats to corporate parks, these natural shapes are further accentuated in the open air such as the Polo tournament matches. Not only is each design in the collection aesthetically pleasing, combining golden tropical hardwood with shimmering marine-grade stainless steel, but each piece also embodies high style, glamour and sophistication indicative of the Hamptons.
