Southampton Hospital celebrated ‘100 Years of Healing’ with a Centennial 51st Annual benefit held in the grand white traditional tents on the corners of Wickapogue and Old Towne Roads. The event is coveted as the most elegant in Southampton and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The invitation stated to dress in 1900's white; guests brought back old world elegance and charm. The elite crown made me recall and yearn for the way the Hamptons once was. Christie Brinkley, Honorary Chair of the prestigious event lightened things up like a ray of sunshine in a beautiful yellow gown. Christie was ‘on’ with her beautiful million dollar smile that was sincere as she greeted guests. It was wonderful to see Christie 'shine' so unscathed by all of the hardship she recently endured form her divorce as if wearing a teflon coat of armor behind her pearly white smile. Benefit Chairperson; Sheila O’Mally Fuchs wore Diane von Furstenberg. Many of the guests dressed for old world charm and grace. The beautiful Janna Bullock and I had a long chat about our friend Peter Beard who we greatly miss. Joy Marks and Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster came in white period gowns complete with traditional umbrellas helping to create the ambiance of a time gone by. Master of Ceremonies was Chuck Scarborough. Some of the guests in attendance were Howard M. Lorber, Tory Burch, Lydia and Rudy Touzet, Jean Shafiroff and family, artist Hunt Slonem, Somers Farkas, James and Whitney Fairchild, Mr. and Mrs. Broadway; Stewart and Bonnie Lane along with the Nederlanders, Christina Greeven Cuomo, Dan Rattiner, Steve and Heather Mnuchin, and many more influential; people. The evening’s dinner benefited the emergency room that is in much need of funding. Southampton Hospital, is a 168-bed hospital, in Southampton, New York, and is the only hospital in the Hamptons. Did you know that First Lady of the United States Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her sister Lee Radziwill were born at the hospital, also artist, Ian Hornak died at the facility? The hospital admits more than 6,000 patient/year and has about 26,000 emergency room visits (with half being during the summer season.) If the walls of Southampton Hospital could talk what a tale they would tell. Patients and visitors to the hospital have consisted of world leaders and pillars of society, celebrities, and just regular folks. The event was a success and the evening was laced with elegance. Guests ate, drank and danced the night away .
