ON THE BIRTH OF JAMES T. KIRK:

SONITA HENRY: The baby scene when Kirk is born features two babies. One is real and one is fake. The fake baby is actually a girl. It's actually a little girl! So Kirk is possibly transgendered. But you never see it on film, so it really doesn't matter. I think they just had a rubber baby lying around and decided to use it.

CHAUNCE HAYDEN: What about the real baby?

SONITA HENRY: They had 3 moms turn up on the set the morning we shoot the birth scene and they each had their ten day old babies with them. It was a little crazy. JJ Abrams and I had to go and meet each of the moms and the babies. Then JJ chose the baby he liked best.

CHAUNCE HAYDEN: So you have a kid who's just ten days old already been told he's not good enough. Sorry, but don't let the door hit you on your little soft ass on the way out.

SONITA HENRY: Pretty much! Get used to it man. That's Hollywood! Actually the baby that we chose was so well behaved. Almost too well! JJ wanted the baby to cry. You would think since I'm holding the baby it would cry just based on the fact that I'm holding it. Plus I had weird make up on and no eyebrows. Not to mention the fact that Jennifer Morrison is screaming. But this baby was silent. It wouldn't make a sound. JJ was complaining that the baby wouldn't cry. So her mom said, “Oh, just shake her a bit!” I had to actually look at this new mom and tell her, “Listen lady, I'm not shaking your baby! I'm British but I refuse to shake your baby!” I just told the baby, “Look, do you want your SAG card or not? CRY!”

CHAUNCE HAYDEN: Did you say anything to Abrams to make him want to use you in the sequel?

ON REFUSING TO SHAVE HER EYEBROWS FOR HER ROLE IN STAR TREK:

SONITA HENRY: Actually, I thought I pissed JJ Abrams off because I refused to shave my eyebrows. The first day of shooting he said, “Can you please shave your eye brows?” And I said, “No.” It wasn't like I told him to go F himself. It took a lot for me to say to a guy whom I've wanted to work with since the first season of Alias and say no to him. Yes, it was a little ballsy. But keep in mind I had other auditions I had to do outside of this film. It would have been impossible to get other work with no eyebrows. I mean, you really do look like an alien with no eyebrows. It's not a good look. So instead they spent two hours doing make up each morning, covering them up with little skullcaps.
