Times Square Gossip's favorite Monkee MICKY DOLENZ hit New York City last night, first at the Palm West, discussing with us his current performance run in the TEEN IDOLS tour, with Peter Noone and Mark Lindsay, and about a recent show at the Hollywood Casino in Pennsylvania that drew several thousand concertgoers. Hollywood Casino marketing director Fred Lipkin perhaps summed up Dolenz’ ongoing appeal best, when he said, “Micky Dolenz transcends generations; he is THE voice of The Monkess.” The TI tour hits the North Folk Theatre at Westbury on May 8. He also mentioned that recording on his Carole King-inspired album KING FOR A DAY (produced by Jeffrey Foskett) is underway and features some special guests (which he couldn’t yet mention). That CD, on the L.A.-based Gigatone Records is provisionally set for a September release. Dolenz also mentioned that the recently shuttered Cutting Room would have been a perfect place to preview the set, as he’d like to preview the collection on both the East and West Coast for the media. Tonight he’ll see Broadway’s ROCK OF AGES with Constantine Maroulis, who appeared with Micky at the last Broadway Cares event at B.B. King’s. Tomorrow night he'll be attending the kickoff event for the Tribeca Film Festival; WOODY ALLEN'S new movie, WHATEVER WORKS.Lastly, Micky reflected on the great time he had on CMT’s recently completed GONE COUNTRY show. In fact, he saw show-mate TAYLOR DANE this past weekend.
