Opus Hotel

Vancouver’s hot Opus Hotel was a revolving door of celebrities, musicians, and business tycoons—many there for JUNO Weekend (Canada’s version of the Grammy’s) and a private red-carpet party for UNIVERSAL. Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattison, The Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick, Tom Selleck, Jim Byrnes, Bryan Adams, and the JUNO-winning Bare Naked Ladies were all spotted unwinding and enjoying the luxurious hotel’s lounge, see-and-be-seen bar, and modern French bistro, ELIXIR. Feist was spotted at the Opus Bar the night before—starting her celebrations early—winning a JUNO Award for Video of the Year, starting her celebration early. All the members of the Canadian Pop Punk Band, Hedley, were also seen enjoying the scene at the chic nightlife hotspot—the lead singer even went behind the bar at one point to pour shots for the crowd. The VIP room, also known as the Velvet Room, turned into a virtual concert space as performers such as Elise Estrada, Gordon Downie (of Tragically Hip) Sam Roberts (the lead singer for Sam Roberts Band) Kim Ho (the singer for Creature), and the bands State of Shock and City and Colour filled the room. The vibe in the room was so electrifying, that by the end of the night everyone was looking for an acoustic guitar to jam together. It is no surprise that Opus Hotel was home base for the action-packed weekend. The hotel is just a short 25 minutes from Vancouver International Airport and set in scenic, historic Yaletown. Opened in 2002, Opus Vancouver has since has been named one of the world’s top hotels by readers of Condé Nast Traveler and Travel & Leisure, while the Opus Bar has been voted “Vancouver’s Most Popular Nightspot” by Zagat Guide. Uniquely stylish and always fresh, Opus redefines the boutique hotel experience, blending contemporary design and warmth into the ninety-six guestrooms.
