Famed writer and radio personality Studs Terkel has died at the age of 96.The Pulitzer Prize-winning actor passed away at his home in Chicago, Illinois yesterday. The star was best known for his oral documentaries on World War II and the Great Depression, recording interviews with ordinary Americans and producing a cross-section of U.S. society.Terkel’s son Dan has paid tribute to his father, saying, "He lived a long, eventful, satisfying, though sometimes tempestuous life. I think that pretty well sums it up."

Toxic Singer Britney Spears is reportedly going to follow in the footsteps of Pop singer Prince and Kylie Minogue by playing a two-week residency at London’s O2 Arena next year. The troubled singer is preparing for a huge world tour in 2009 on the back of her forthcoming album, Circus, which is to be released in next month. And now, according to the British newspaper The Sun, Spears has negotiated a deal with the London venue which will see her show based there for 14 nights. A couple who sold a horrible video of singer Amy Winehouse allegedly smoking crack cocaine to a British newspaper have pleaded guilty to drug charges. Johnny Blagrove and Cara Burton admitted in a London court yesterday that they offered to supply drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, to rehab singer Winehouse. Prosecutors say the pair covertly filmed Winehouse and sold the footage to The Sun newspaper. In January the paper published the shocking photos, which appeared to show the singer smoking the addictive drug crack. Detectives decided there was not enough evidence to charge Winehouse but they charged the couple and went after them. Prosecutor Sean Larkin says police who raided the couple's home found a list of celebrities they supplied with drugs, including Winehouse. A judge ordered the couple to return Nov. 28 for sentencing.
