Wendy Williams announced on the air earlier today that WBLS has fired her sidekick Charlamagne Tha God from her popular radio show, "The Wendy Williams Experience." Williams blamed the layoff on the current financial crisis in the United States. Williams began Friday’s radio program on a sad note announcing that her controversial co-host Charlamagne, who has been a fixture on the nationally syndicated show since 2006, had been laid off. This announcement comes on the heels of Thursday night’s Celebrity Art Auction “Doodle for Hunger IX” honoring Wendy and Fox News Anchor Rosanna Scotto. Art lovers and enthusiasts alike bid on original drawings, raising over $500,000 to support the efforts of the Capuchin Food Pantries – which serves over 3,000 poor families in New York each week. Wendy is not worried about Charlamagne’s ability to go on and do very well for himself — he’s an important member of the team and will be on her TV show this summer.” The debut of Ms. Williams’ syndicated television show, which received a six-week tryout this summer, is planned for July.
