She say's "As an 18-year-old, I got parts simultaneously with two Broadway shows. In Hurlyburly, I played a waif in the first act with Chris Walken, Harvey Keitel and Jerry Stiller. Then I zoomed two blocks, changed clothes and played Jeremy Irons’ daughter in the very British The Real Thing.Then I ran back to Hurlyburly where I was transformed into the slutty character my waif had then become." But Nixon eventually resigned because her hectic schedule left no time for college work: "I finally quit because school had to come first."
