TED KENNEDY IN HOSPITAL AFTER SEIZURE

Senator Ted Kennedy

Legendary Senator Ted Kennedy at aged 76, is recovering at a Boston hospital after suffering a seizure yesterday at his home on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. There was at first concern the senate had suffered a stroke. But doctors say he didn't, and he was later said to be joking with his family and watching a Red Sox game on TV. Dr. Larry Ronan, the senator’s primary care physician, said last night Kennedy “is not in any immediate danger.” “He’s resting comfortably, and watching the Red Sox [team stats] game with his family,” Ronan said. “Over the next couple of days, Sen. Kennedy will undergo further evaluation to determine the cause of the seizure, and a course of treatment will be determined at that time.” In a statement, Kennedy aides said he would remain in the hospital until at least tomorrow. “He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure,” the statement read. “Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours.” Firefighters responded to the Kennedys’ oceanfront manse at 8:19 a.m. after receiving a 911 call stating the senator was ill. He was taken by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital then quickly flown to Boston on advice of his doctors. A steady stream of family members descended on MGH yesterday, including Kennedy’s wife, Victoria; his sister Jean; his daughter, Kara Kennedy Allen; and his sons, Ted Kennedy Jr. and U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.). Also visiting were his niece, Caroline, nephew Joseph P. Kennedy II, and Sen. John F. Kerry.
