NUDE BRITNEY SPEARS POSTER AXED

A poster of BRITNEY SPEARS in New Zealand have been scrapped, after locals complained the billboard showing the star climbing out of a car with her modesty barely covered was "degrading".The photograph of Spears was taken in Hollywood late last year, when the Toxic singer got out of a car without wearing any underwear. Her genitals on the billboard were covered up by a pair of blue panties and carried the headline, Something Everyone Wants To See.The country’s Advertising Standards Agency received seven complaints about the advertisement for TV broadcaster Sky, and ruled the poster must come down because it is offensive to women. The agency decided the objections fell under the rule that advertisements should not use sex appeal in an exploitative or degrading manner to sell products. But Sky’s lawyers argued the image was used to demonstrate the fact that "people wouldn’t want to see ‘Britney’s bits’, but there was something they would want to see on Sky".They add, "There will always be advertisements which offend some people and it is accepted that each of the seven complainants has been offended."However, there will be many people in Auckland who have seen the billboard and have known the background and are not offended." Sky have been ordered to take down the poster on the Auckland railway bridge at the intersection of Parnell Rise and Stanley Street.
