50TH ANNIVERSARY OF 'SAVE VENICE' TO SUPPORT RESTORATION OF VENETIAN ART

In place of the annual Un Ballo in Maschera held in New York each year, Save Venice’s global initiative,  50 Celebrations for 50 Years (50x50), aims to raise critical funds for Save Venice’s mission during its anniversary year at a time when large-scale events are only beginning to return during the pandemic.   Lizzie Asher In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Save Venice, the leading American nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the artistic heritage of Venice, commemorative events are being organized worldwide to support important restorations of masterworks of Venetian art and architecture. In place of the annual Un Ballo in Maschera held in New York each year, Save Venice is hosting “50X50,” in a global scale with 50 parties in 50 cities across the globe to toast its accomplishments. Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, Prince of Venice. The cocktail reception was held to raise awareness of conservation efforts in Venice following the extreme floods (acque alte) that devastated Venice in November. SAVE VENICE ANNOUNCES RESPONSE FUND AFTER EXTREME FLOODS

Water Rising During Storm At Scuola  Dalmata San Giorgio Degli  Schiavoni The American non-profit organization Save Venice has announced the creation of an Immediate Response Fund for artistic and cultural heritage recovery following the extreme floods (acque alte) that devastated Venice between November 12-17, 2019. The Embassy of Italy in Washington DC and Save Venice are partnering to raise funds for the Immediate Response Fund, which will support urgent relief efforts and preventative conservation. Donations can be made at savevenice.org/donate by selecting the Immediate Response Fund, and will be matched by Save Venice, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000 through February 2020. “Save Venice was born in the aftermath of the terrible floods of November 1966, and the November 2019 floods underscore the urgency of our mission,” said Save Venice Chairman Frederick Ilchman. “The Immediate Response Fund will allow Save Venice to move quickly to mitigate the effects o...
