Jeff Payne Arrests Nurse Alex Wubbels

AP -- Via TIME -- SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- A Utah police officer's body camera video shows a hospital nurse being handcuffed after refusing to draw blood on an unconscious patient.

The video taken at University Hospital in Salt Lake City shows nurse Alex Wubbels calmly explaining to Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne that she couldn't draw blood on a patient who had been injured in a car accident.

She told the officer a patient was required to give consent for a blood sample or be under arrest. Otherwise, she said police needed a warrant.

The dispute ended with Payne telling the nurse she was under arrest and physically moving her out of the hospital while she screamed.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Wubbels was not charged.

On Friday, Salt Lake City police apologized over the incident. Police spokeswoman Christina Judd said the agency initiated an internal investigation within hours of the July 26 encounter.

Payne has been suspended from blood-draw duties but remains in his role as a detective in the investigations unit.

Judd says the assistant chief has apologized to the hospital and that the department is alarmed by what they saw in the video.

Judd said the department is working to investigate what went wrong and is seeking to repair the "unfortunate rift" it has caused.

Note: This cop should be fired. Wubbels should be given a award for protecting patient rights. This is just disgusting!

Coming to theaters September 1st and home video on October 27th

With exclusive voice-over contributions from David Bowie, this film is a celebration of the life and works of guitar virtuoso Mick Ronson, a rock hero virtually uncelebrated despite his direct contribution and involvement in countless compositions, lyrics and recordings that changed the face of music forever.

An Emperor Media Ltd production, documentary special Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story (101:50 minutes) is from award-winning producer/director Jon Brewer. Mick Ronson's humble beginnings in Hull, England underpinned his values and modest, unpretentious personality as he worked with the city's council whilst pursuing his craft with consummate dedication.

Soon word of his talent reached David Bowie, who grabbed at the chance to work with Ronson, in what would become a career-long association, alongside collaborations with other greats such as Bob Dylan, Ian Hunter, Lulu, Lou Reed, Morrissey and John Mellencamp. The Man Who Sold the World, Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory, The Jean Genie - all were constructed with Ronson on guitar.

Sadly in 1993, while working on a solo album, Ronson passed away before receiving the recognition he so richly deserved or before taking that final bow. Now, with unprecedented access to archival backstage footage - never before released - and iconic imagery from superstar photographer Mick Rock, this fascinating and at times controversial special reveals the ultimate authentic chronicle of the career of a cornerstone of rock.

Producer and director Jon Brewer commented, "Both Mick Ronson and David Bowie together were the ultimate duo. They performed and recorded like magicians and created masterpieces that will live on forever."

Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story is distributed in the US by MVD Entertainment Group via Blu-ray + DVD, transactional video on demand, and download to own rights from international distributor Content Media following the Parade Deck Films theatrical release .

Bethenny Frankel

New York, NY -- Yesterday, Bethenny Frankel raised and donated a total of $50,000 to Dress for Success Corpus Christi and Dress for Success Houston to assist women in crisis in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to help women and their families in financial crisis and supply them with needed goods.

The funds, along with future funds raised daily by Bethenny and B Strong, will allow Dress for Success Corpus Christi to eventually repair its location and continue to serve women in their local community after being damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

As an extension of Bethenny’s B Strong initiative, the donations made to Dress for Success Houston will help 900 Professional Women’s Group members overcome the financial crises they will face in the wake of this historic storm.

Both affiliates are exploring other means for helping the thousands of women who will be struggling to rebuild their lives, and Bethenny’s contribution will provide these organizations with the tools and supplies necessary to expand this reach.

B Strong: Find Your Yes is a crisis intervention initiative that provides real-time emergency assistance to women who face crises on their road to success. It’s for women in abusive situations, women at a crossroads and women in dire straits financially. It’s all about helping these women get the tools they need to manage the situation and achieve the best outcome possible.

Bethenny is continuing B Strong’s drive to raise funds and needed supplies to be distributed to women in need in the Houston area next week. The star is providing updates on all of her social channels, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Laurie Gelman

NY Post's Richard Johnson

Class Mom
Author Laurie Gelman celebrated the launch of her debut book, Class Mom: A Novel, on Thursday, August 24, 2017 with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the home of Deana and Steve Hanson in East Hampton, NY. Class Mom: A Novel is a clever take on a year in the life of kindergarten class mom, Jen Dixon. Jen is not your typical Kansas City, Missouri kindergarten class mom¯or a mom in general. Jen already has two college-age daughters by two different men (probably musicians), and it is her second time around the class mom block with five-year-old Max¯this time with a husband and father by her side. Though her best friend and PTA President sees her as the “wisest” candidate for the job (or oldest), not all of the other parents agree.

The Gelman Family

From recording parents’ response times to her emails about helping in the classroom, to requesting contributions of “special” brownies for curriculum night, not all of Jen’s methods win approval from the other parents. Throw in an old flame from Jen’s past, a hyper-sensitive “allergy mom,” a surprisingly sexy kindergarten teacher, and an impossible-to-please Real Housewife-wannabe, causing problems at every turn, and the job really becomes much more than she signed up for.

Susan Cohen And Steven Cohen

Relatable, irreverent, and hilarious in the spirit of Maria Semple, Class Mom is a fresh, welcome voice in fiction¯the kind of novel that real moms clamor for, and a vicarious thrill-read for all parents, who will be laughing as they are liberated by Gelman’s acerbic truths.

Deana Hanson And Robert Kraft

Notable attendees included: Laurie and Michael Gelman, Andrew Marshak and Ursla Marshak; Mireya D’Angelo, Sofia D’Angelo, and Joseph D’Angelo; Richard Johnson; Caryn Zucker; Michael Crocitto and Maria Crocitto; Jane Wagman and Richard Wagman; Susan Cohen and Steven Cohen; Stephen Cooper and Sari Cooper; David Stellings and Brande Stellings; Lee Fryd; Anita Rogers; Deana Hanson and Brynn Hanson; Mia McDonald and Anthony Dicks; Lisa Ades; Lois Bennett; Alex Berg and Nancy Frigand; Corey McCutcheon; Brian Renzetti; Gerald Lefcourt and Dr. Barry Weintraub.

Jean Shafiroff In Social Life

Social Life -- Jean Shafiroff ’s world may seem filled with glamorous
charity balls, but the reality of her day-to-day life is filled with
hard work. The author and humanitarian brings a strong consideration
for people and animals to all that she does for charities
in the Hamptons and beyond. Shafiroff, who was most
recently honored by the Southampton Animal Shelter, wholeheartedly
dedicates herself to elevating several causes. She does
this by chairing or otherwise organizing memorable fundraisers
with humility and grace. She also gives generously of her
own time and resources. Her goal? To inspire potential donors’
enthusiasm for the organizations whose causes she believes in.
“Local organizations especially rely on summer fundraisers to
survive,” says Shafiroff. “Without the capability to fundraise, a
lot of these groups would have a very difficult time.”
