Chef Randy Reiss With Tim Burke

The very popular and well respected restaurateur and caterer Tim Burke launched the new decade in true Hamptons style with a pull out the stops New Year’s Eve bash for some 400 Hamptonites at the newly restored historic venue formerly known as Polish Hall now as 230 Elm. Located at where else but 230 Elm Street just a short walk from the Southampton train station, the enormous catering hall was trimmed in elegant black and white for this beginning of a new decade and official launch of the venue. Burke well known in the area pulled in his old team, many of whom had worked with him at the very popular 75 Main during his tenure there. Forced out by dramatically increasing rents, Burke who has an extensive and well earned reputation as one of the East End’s preeminent caterers and special events producers, once again has a venue to call his own. At 230 Elm, fans of 75 Main will encounter the same warm welcome and the top flight fare prepared by Chef Randy Reiss who helmed the kitchen at 75 Main. Adding to that are longtime associates and staffers - all locals - including Sue Collins, Jaci Laborne, Ashley Donohoe, Kim Knotoff, Dick Clair, Patrick "Whitey" Lanahan, Steve Phillips, Carl Runyon, Cindy Dempsey, Jeanie Buntz, Lisa Moore, Chrissy Phillips, Fred Lederman, Ashley Doroska, Wendy Talmage, Billy Fullum, Wayne Bezubec and Eileen Noonan. And Tim had plenty of family support including wife Felicia Burke; sister Kathy Bishop and brother-in-law Congressman Tim Bishop. There were copious hors d’oeuvres, huge steamship rounds of beef, pasta salads and desserts. More than enough to keep the revelers dancing into the New Year while a jumbo screen carried The countdown in Times Square. A troupe of beautiful Russian dancers was a highlight of the Evening’s festivities. Among the revelers all anxious to bid 2009 goodbye were Erin Molloy, Cynthia and Robert Kolbenhayer, Alice Flynn, Bill and Pam Jackson Jones, Lauren Roberts, Lisa Denoto, Lynne Leahy and Rafael Horcasitas. Tim Burke has been planning events for nearly four decades. Tim received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Administration from Southampton College of Long Island University in 1973. He followed this with a Catering Certificate from The Culinary Institute of America. Tim Has worked as a waiter, bartender and manager in restaurants in Florida, NYC and the Hamptons. Tim recently was the catering director at the Clamman Seafood Market and Four Seasons Caterer from 1999 to 2007. In 2000 Tim started working with Chef Randy Riess. They worked together doing events from beach parties for 2 people to rock concerts for 10,000. In 2007 Tim and Randy took over 75 Main restaurant in Southampton Village. For 2 years they built a business to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and special events. Tim and Randy are now focusing their attention on catering and restaurants and catering management. Tim and Randy have planned thousands of memorable weddings, beach parties, private dinner and dinner parties. From the spectacular to the simple. Tim and Randy have earned a reputation as the smart choice for anyone wanting to create a special event. Their annual beach party clambake for Hamptons Magazine is famed as one of the best celebrity events of the summer season.

Leighton Meester

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester showed fans a new side Saturday night as the actress and singer-songwriter took the stage at TAO and wowed the crowd with four songs. Meester arrived on the red carpet in a Nina Ricci dress and Derek Lam shoes, but later in the night she was clad in all black as she crawled across the stage to start the show. Meester began her electro-pop set with the Cobra Starship song “Good Girls Go Bad,” a song she is featured on, and then followed up with “Somebody to Love”, “Playing Games” and “Your Love’s a Drug”. After her performance she headed to a sky box table in the moat overlooking the entire club where she celebrated her last night before heading back to the Gossip Girl set with her band, dancers and crew. Earlier in the evening the entire group dined at LAVO with an Italian feast including favorites such as the Kobe Meatball, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Parmagiano and more. Meester toasted her crew at dinner, thanking them all for joining her for the best week of her life. Also spotted at TAO, Nicky Hilton and David Katzenberg along with Nicky’s parents Rick and Kathy Hilton. The family caught Meester’s performance from a table on the dance floor after having dinner at LAVO earlier in the evening. Just a few tables down on TAO’s dance floor was Travis Pastrana, who was celebrating breaking the world record for the longest rally car jump over 200 feet of water in Long Beach, CA on New Year’s Eve. Deryck Whibley returned to TAO for the third night in a row with a table in the nightclub, and David Spade was spotted dining in the restaurant early in the evening. Spade, who always eats at TAO when in town for his shows at The Venetian, had one of his favorite dishes, Kung Pao Chicken and his signature drink of Jack Daniels neat and Diet Pepsi without ice. Over at LAVO the Tapout crew played host to a post fight party in the nightclub after owners Punkass and Skyscrape dined at TAO. Rashad Evans, who defeated Thiago Silva at the night’s earlier UFC fight, celebrated his win at LAVO. Club goers at LAVO were in for a surprise when MC Hammer showed up just after 2 am. The crowd went crazy when DJ Reach played Hammer’s hits “U Can’t Touch This” and “2 Legit 2 Quit” on repeat.

Christina Aguilera And Nicole Richie

Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie helped Las Vegas ring in 2010 at TAO and LAVO at the Venetian and Palazzo Hotels. Aguilera arrived at the red carpet looking stunning in a Moschino dress with jewels by Stephen Webster and chatted about how excited she is for the New Year with her album dropping in March and her movie Burlesque premiering in November. Aguilera, who was joined by husband Jordan Bratman, her sister Rachel and all of her dancers, raved about the gorgeous penthouse suite at The Venetian where they were staying, “'The Venetian is amazing and we've had an awesome time,” she shared. The group dined in TAO’s private dining room before heading upstairs to a sky box in the nightclub. The pop star was so excited to lead the packed club in the countdown to 2010 that she took to the stage a few minutes early much to delight of the crowd. After pronouncing "Happy New Year" she left the stage and gave her husband a special kiss before heading back to the skybox to enjoy the rest of the evening. At LAVO Nicole Richie and beau Joel Madden were on hand to celebrate with revelers at The Palazzo. Richie, who has a jewelry collection and is launching clothing and shoe lines, wore a gold low backed dress of her own design – a custom piece from her collection Winter Kate. The mother of two and burgeoning poker fan was excited to come to Vegas, but the couple didn’t want to be away from their kids for too long so they made the trip very quick. They flew in on Thursday and spent the day in the luxurious Sienna suite at The Palazzo, enjoying cupcakes from Sweet Surrender as well as an Italian feast in the private dining room at LAVO. As for New Year's Resolutions Nicole aims to be the best version of herself and "grow gracefully." Richie took to the catwalk at LAVO two minutes before midnight and turned her own camera on the crowd, snapping shots to post on Twitter. After counting down the last seconds of 2009 she joined Madden in the DJ booth as he spun a special set for the packed nightclub. The pair then headed back to the kids in Southern California right after Madden finished his DJ set at LAVO. Ryan Gosling, who was spotted chatting with Jaime Murray from the Showtime hit Dexter, a very single Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley, model Devon Aoki and Wilmer Valderrama of That 70’s Show fame and Michael Steger from the CW’s 90210 along his wife Brandee Tucker were all spotted ringing in 2010 at LAVO. Valderrama got on the microphone at LAVO, entertaining the crowd while doing shots of Patron, while Gosling, Murray, Whibley and Aoki all headed to TAO after 2 am to finish their New Year’s celebration.
