WABC RADIO TEAMS UP CURTIS SLIWA & RITA COSBY

Curtis Sliwa And Rita Cosby

NEW YORK, NY - February 6, 2018  – 77 WABC Radio announces the powerhouse pairing of quintessential New York host Curtis Sliwa and acclaimed Emmy-winning journalist Rita Cosby for the dynamic new talk show “Curtis + Cosby”, debuting Tuesday, February 6, from 12-3pm on 77 WABC Radio in New York City.

The “Curtis + Cosby” show brings together two renowned New York natives and experienced broadcasters for the first time: Curtis Sliwa, the iconic founder of the Guardian Angels and Rita Cosby, the award-winning TV/Radio host and best-selling author. Sliwa enters his fourth year hosting Middays on 77 WABC. Cosby continues as 77 WABC Political Editor, expanding upon her role since 2014 hosting the Gracie Award-winning “Election Central” and “The Rita Cosby Show”.

Chad Lopez, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-New York, said, “Curtis and Rita are larger than life personalities and exceptional hosts who really understand what makes New York tick. Our listeners, our advertisers, and our staff are excited about the show.”

Craig Schwalb, WABC Program Director, said, “This is basically a New York dream team. Two veteran New York broadcasters and celebrated New York personalities that our listeners simply adore. It’s an incredible combination.”

Rita Cosby, WABC Host and Political Editor, said, “I am thrilled to co-host the brand new ‘Curtis + Cosby’ show with my longtime friend, radio superstar Curtis Sliwa. With such an unprecedented barrage of endless news topics, now is the perfect time for us to join forces and engage our listeners in a way you will hear nowhere else.”

Curtis Sliwa, Co-Host of “Curtis + Cosby”, said: “This is an actual first in a large radio market. Two Polish Americans who are teamed together. Rita has reported from throughout the world and has made solid contacts with newsmakers and cultural figures that she has brought to the microphones of 77 WABC. And in this age of "ME TOO", she brings a female voice to our talk radio industry that has been sorely missed.”

MEREDITH VIEIRA TO HOST NEW SHOW ON NBC

****
DAYTIME TALK
****

The rumors are true! After months of speculation about former TODAY show co-anchor Meredith Vieira being considered for her own talk show, the veteran journalist has moved on to shooting the proposed series, sources confirm exclusively to Us Weekly.

Insiders tell Us that Vieira, 59, is currently filming the pilot for her NBC show, which is in the vein of Katie Couric's ABC daytime talk show. The series has not yet been picked up, but if and when it is, it would air sometime in 2014.

New York Times journalist Brian Stelter -- author of the controversial morning show tell-all Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV -- first reported in his Media Decoder blog in January that the Dateline NBC contributor was "in talks" with NBCUniversal for a syndicated talk show to premiere no sooner than September 2014. NBC declined to comment on the rumors at the time, but Vieira hinted earlier that month that she was working with the network on a new project.

Announcing the end of her run on the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which she has hosted since 2002, the View alum said she wanted to focus on other aspects of her career. "It's been a great 11 years," she said in a statement on Jan. 11. "I am about to embark on a new adventure with NBC, and I have a digital venture which will be announced shortly. This just seemed like the right time to make the move."

If Vieira's series is picked up, it could compete with her former show The View, or with Couric's show Katie, Stelter reported in January. Vieira replaced Couric on TODAY in 2006, after nine years as a cohost on Barbara Walters' daytime series. She later left her co-anchor post in 2011 but has remained with NBC as a contributor to Dateline NBC and Rock Center With Brian Williams.

Jane Fonda Talks HBO's The Newsroom

KC: “I love you in the “Newsroom””

JF: “Oh yes!”

KC: “I love you in the “Newsroom”, Jane does a great job in Aaron Sorkin’s ___ series on HBO.”

JF: “Oh, it’s this new television show called the “Newsroom”, She loves it, it’s so good! Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterson, Emily Mortimer, Aaron Sorkin writes it and I play Rupert Murdoch that’s been marinated in a little Ted Turner for a while.”

KC: “Yeah, what— did you learn anything from your marriage to Ted that you’re…”

JF: “Well, what I’ve learned that helps me with this is to just not be intimidated. You know what I mean? I can own this character who’s not just in charge of a news thing, the news division, you know, it’s three percent of her bottom line. She owns things in China, Canada, all over the world. But, she’s huge!”

KC: “She’s a mogul.”

JF: “She’s a-- I am. I like playing a mogul.”
