Former Spice Girls singing icon Melanie Chisholm is confirming she is expecting her very first child. The pop star was rumored to be pregnant after paparazzi photographers caught her wearing a loose-fitting dress to hide her ever growing bump. And now the star, 34, has announced she and her partner of six years, Thomas Starr, are to become first time parents and that they are "very happy" with the news. She writes on her official Web site, "Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy. "Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation)." Chisholm claims she plans to take time out from her solo career to focus of being a mother, but insists she will soon be back on stage performing very soon. She adds, "I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for an album, I'll need some time off to be a mom but, before you know it, we'll be back." Spice Girl Melanie Brown's ex-husband has filed for custody of the couple’s nine-year-old daughter after the singer took her on tour recently. Dancer Jimmy Gulzar refused to alter his visitation schedule while Brown toured the globe with their daughter Phoenix Chi. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider blocked Gulzar’s attempt to stop the child from travelling and gave Brown the green-light to take Phoenix out of the U.S. Brown still maintains sole legal and physical custody of Phoenix, and Gulzar will have scheduled visitation over the next few months. The 32-year-old star married Dutch dancer Gulzar in 1998 before divorcing in 2000.

Mel C has started eating specialist Japanese cookies in an attempt to make her breasts bigger for the Spice Girls reunion tour. Sporty Spice, who has the flattest chest in the group, is attempting to boost her bust for the tour by eating Japanese 'F-Cup cookies'. Mel told BBC Radio 1: "I'll be a guinea-pig for them, can you imagine if my boobs got bigger suddenly? That'd be great!"The cookies, with a calorific value of 68.7 each, contain trans-fats which are sent directly to the breast area, as well as 50mg of "breast-enhancing herb" Pueraria Mirifica. Manufacturers claim women can expect to see their breasts increase by at least a cup-size if they eat two cookies a day. Mel is not the only Spice Girl on an unusual eating regime ahead of their comeback tour, which kicks off in Vancouver, Canada, on December 2. Victoria Beckham has devised a strict diet and exercise regime for herself ahead of the shows, and is apparently keen for the rest of the girls to adhere to it as well. A source said: "Victoria has told the girls her secret to getting in shape is 200 sit-ups a day and a diet of edamame soya beans, strawberries and lettuce. She is determined to make sure the reunion goes well because her image is important to her. She wants the girls to all look their very best, and says her diet is a guaranteed way of losing the pounds."

That's him."I have complete respect for someone that can take the best bits out of the crap bits and make it all blossom."In 2003, Belafonte - previously known as Stephen Stansbury - was spared jail after not contesting he hit his former common-law wife Nicole Contreras, after a "drunk and retarded night".Mel even had kind words for her ex-lover Eddie Murphy, who she took to court to prove he was the father of Angel, saying he was "nice" when they briefly dated in 2006.She said: "I have nothing bad to say about him. For the guy that he was when I was with him. He was nice, really nice. Everyone loves to hate Simon Cowell

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Simon was furious with Louis for slaughtering the Spice Girls. He really wants them to do a masterclass on one of the live shows and now fears Louis has blown it. He gave him a b******ing and told him to keep his mouth shut."The girls haven't said yes or no yet. Simon is going to have to do a lot more grovelling to make it happen."In a recent interview, Louis ruthlessly claimed the group are "well past their sell-by date".Louis, who formerly managed British band Girls Aloud, raged: "The Spice Girls are very lucky and very overrated. They're only reuniting because they have nothing else to do. One's just the wife of a soccer star and the others are not on the radar. They're well past their sell-by date."None of them can sing and their music is not half as good as Girls Aloud's. Girls Aloud are also better looking."The Spice Girls appealed to little girls. It wasn't good music. Those girls are just not talented - one-trick ponies."

You have to look your best and prepare by exercising three to five times a week."If we're touring and doing show after show, we have to really look after ourselves. We might occasionally have a few drinks in the dressing room, but we can't really do that."I'm sure most of the time we'll be back in our hotel rooms, relaxing in the bath, because we can't go out and play!"As well as limiting the girls' alcohol consumption, Mel is also going to make sure the group get an early night before each show and eat the right foods. She added: "We'll be going to bed by 10.30am. When you have a show, the night before has to be an early one."You should eat about four hours before so you're not hungry when you go on stage and have the energy needed to perform. I also recommend avoiding dairy because it can affect your voice."The Spice Girls - who announced they were reforming in June -are to play 15 shows, taking place in five continents. The tour begins in Vancouver, Canada, in December, and rumours are rife the band are planning to add extra dates.

Mel C was allegedly furious after being told to have singing lessons by Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller. The girl group - also comprising of Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B - were reportedly ordered to have voice training before their reunion tour.Mel apparently took the advice as an insult, and is said to have told Simon:"I don't need lessons. I can sing, thank you very much."A source told Closer magazine: "The girls have been told by Simon that they need to get their voices back in training and should start having singing lessons as soon as possible."But Mel C is furious as she thinks her voice is already in shape. Simon thinks she needs to re-familiarise herself with the lyrics and the pop style to make the comeback work."Mel feels really insulted but Simon has insisted on it. They are all going to vocal coaching because they have lost the art of singing in harmony."The rest of the band are fine with getting some voice coaching and can't understand why Mel is kicking off about it."The band kick-off their world reunion tour in December in Canada.

Children's book writer Geri Halliwell

Geri Halliwell has written a series of children's books inspired by ex-Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham. Geri's tales feature a nine-year-old girl who bears a striking resemblance to her creator, as well as a princess called Posh Vatoria. The series follows a school girl called Ugenia Lavender, who shares Geri's red hair and striking blue eyes, and has a talent for solving mysteries. She describes Ugenia as "flawed, demanding and obnoxious" but adds that she"cares about the world she lives in". Posh Vatoria, created with Victoria's blessing, intimidates the flame-haired heroine in one story by arriving at a party in a limousine. Geri said: "She was very flattered and I hope she is going to read the books to her boys. I have only cast people if it is authentic to the story. Idon't know if the other Spice Girls will be in there."Geri, 34, started writing the book while pregnant with 11-month-old daughter Bluebell Madonna. Her decision to follow the path of other star children's authors Madonna and Will Smith doesn't signal the end of Geri's music career though. She plans to record a theme song in conjunction with her books. Books will hit shelves each month, starting in May 2008, up until October.

Spice Girl Mel B. has shower

Mel B has hosted a lavish baby shower in Beverly Hills. The former Spice Girl - who is due to give birth to her second child next month - threw the party for 30 guests at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday. Guests were treated to champagne and a cake in the shape of a woman's pregnant stomach clad in an edible leopard-print loin cloth. Mel began the day by getting ready with close friends in a bungalow at the hotel, before joining her guests in a private room by the tennis courts. The 31-year-old refused to let her acrimonious split with Eddie Murphy spoil her day, even though he is still demanding a paternity test before he accepts the child is his. Eddie's new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds has insisted he will play a role in the child's upbringing if he is the father.Tracey said: "Without me getting too deep into it, they had a quick relationship before I got together with Eddie. So that's their business. They'll be a paternity test and if it is his then he will be responsible."In December, Eddie was asked about his relationship with Mel and her pregnancy. He angrily replied: "We're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that it, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."
