TV News Star Rita Cosby wowed the crowd at the Waldorf Astoria in a dazzling red hot St. John sequined gown Tuesday night at the 70th Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. Among the other VIPs highlighted at the NYC Who’s Who gala: Honoree, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, current Mayor Bill DeBlasio, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo and Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Other celebrated TV hosts present included Gayle King, Bill O'Reilly and Jeanine Pirro. The legendary dinner raised more than two million dollars for Catholic charities to help children in need.

New York hotspot The Cutting Room hosted a fundraiser last Sunday to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raise funds for acclaimed and beloved resident artist Kathrina Miccio. Kathrina was diagnosed with cancer in August and has established Paint Us Pink, a non-profit program designed to help women in the arts who are also undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Many celebrity friends came out for her and this important cause, including TV and Radio Host Rita Cosby who emceed the event. The Dutchess of York Sarah Ferguson and Singer Andrea Bocelli also shared powerful video messages of support for their longtime friend. Getting Healthy is all about education… Even celebrities like TV Host Rita Cosby and Devan Kline, former ballplayer for the San Francisco Giants, who was one of the Exhibitors and Speakers for his Burn Boot Camp, think so. They were among the celebrities that came to support the Health and Wellness Expo NYC last Saturday. They believe that education precedes the traditional "eat right and exercise to stay healthy" message. That in order to have longevity and productivity in your life, you need to get educated.

Exhibitors from every realm of the health and wellness sphere were represented. "Professionals, Practitioners, Service and Product Providers are here to educate the pubic about what it takes to become, be and stay healthy" says Orly Amor, founder of the Health and Wellness Network of Commerce hosting the event.  Heroes from the 63 days of fighting were honored on the 71st anniversary of their historic battle, the largest citizens resistance against the Germans in WWII. In Greenpoint, about a thousand people joined Warsaw Uprisers, dignitaries and celebrities such as singer Tomaczek Bednarek and TV and Radio Star Rita Cosby, who’s own father was in the Uprising and is memorialized on the massive mural, along with his best friend, Julian Kulski, who joined the Polish Underground Army when he was just twelve years old. During the deeply moving and patriotic ceremony, three flags were raised, including the Polish flag, one symbolizing the Uprising, and an American flag ,which was donated by Move America Forward. The same stars and stripes was flown and saluted over the 82nd Airborne Division Combat Aviation Brigade Headquarters on Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan on the last day of Operation Enduring Freedom, December 31, 2014, marking a decision to end the combat operations there.

Among the other attendees: Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, Polish Consul General Urszula Gacek, Gregory Fryc of Pangea Alliance, and members of PAVA (Polish Army Veterans Association of America).

Fox Business Network debuted Jamie Colby's new show in January called Strange Inheritance. The hit show airs Monday to Thursday at 9:00 p.m. in half-hour episodes. The show examines “real-life stories of unconventional inheritances.” Each evening, two half-hour episodes  air back-to-back featuring Colby as she explores a range of unusual circumstances from a family trying to keep a 900-acre bug museum in business to the discovery of a rare 1913 Liberty Head nickel. Colby joined FNC in 2003 and took a hiatus from her current role as co-anchor for the network’s America’s News Headquarters to film FBN’s Strange Inheritance.

Strange Inheritance is produced by Towers Productions, which is known for such programs as The History Channel’s Gangland, National Geographic’s Inside 9/11, The Weather Channel’s Storm Stories and A&E’s American Justice.

The soon to be released WWII film, "Little Boy," got rave reviews during a special screening last week at the packed AMC Empire Theatre on New York City's 42nd Street. Event hosts, acclaimed TV and Radio Star Rita Cosby and Morgan Stanley's Mark Donohue, were joined by dynamic actors David Henrie and Eduardo Verastegui, who is also one of the film's producers. Other members of the all-star cast include Emily Watson, Kevin James and Tom Wilkinson.

"Little Boy" tells the emotional story of young boy who is willing to do whatever it takes to bring his father back home from the war alive. Henrie delivers an incredible performance as the boy's older brother and celebrated Latin star Verastegui plays a priest. Both men told the captivated audience about their deeply moving personal experiences while making the film, the depth and character of its faith-filled message, and its universal theme of hope beyond all reason… Believing the Impossible IS Possible. Moviegoers called the family-friendly motion picture a cinematic masterpiece and unforgettable story. "Little Boy," directed by Alejandro Monteverde, opens in theaters April 24th.

Jean and Martin Shafiroff hosted a pre-Gala kick-off cocktail party for the NYC Mission Society's Annual Champions for Children benefit to be held on April 1. The pre-Gala reception was underwritten by Chase.

"We're thrilled to be honoring these two extraordinary individuals whose philanthropic efforts have made a significant impact," said Elsie McCabe Thompson, President of the NYC Mission Society. "And we're extremely grateful to Martin and Jean Shafiroff, for generously hosting this party, as well as to the many people who have dedicated themselves to raising funds for our annual spring gala."

“I believe deeply in the work of NYC Mission Society and how it changes the lives of our most under served children in New York City,” said Jean Shafiroff, Board Member and Chair of the April 1st Gala. “What I love most about the Mission Society is that all of us involved work together as a family with one strong common mission. The annual Champions for Children benefit will take place at the Mandarin Oriental, New York, on April 1. Gala honorees for the 2015 benefit are Colbert Narcisse, Managing Director and Global Head of Alternative Investments, Morgan Stanley; and, Hollis Russell, Partner, Ackerman, Levine, Cullen, Brickman & Limmer, LLP. The Master of Ceremonies will be Bill Ritter, evening anchor at WABC-TV and 20/20 correspondent. Guests will be entertained by the Fat Afro Latin Jazz Cats, members of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance's youth orchestra.
