Story By: G. H. HARDING

MORE GRAMMY NOTES --- First off, I was dead wrong with some AC/DC information on Monday. The venerable group does have a new album out, Rock or Bust; a real record label behind them, Columbia; and they're shortly hitting the road for a North American tour.

This will be the group’s first tour without rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and drummer Phil Rudd. Young is suffering from dementia, while Rudd is facing trial on drug and murder-related charges. Former drummer Chris Slade has rejoined the band in Rudd's absence.

The band was formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014. To date they are one of the top-selling bands of all time, with a total of more than 200 million albums sold worldwide.

They never had appeared on the Grammy telecast … but, to many stole the show last Sunday with their amazing, high-octane driven opening ... pyro and all!

Also: Annie Lennox’s duet of sorts with Hozier, on his “Take Me To Church” was still positively chilling and her subsequent take on “I Put A Spell On You” mesmerizing. Thematically, I felt this was one of the best pairings during the show.

Pharrel's "Happy" performance was definitely odd and this track definitely wins the most overplayed song of the year. I find him terrifically talented, but definitely a tad overexposed. And, what's with the shorts?

I also enjoyed (!!!) “Four Five Seconds” from Rihanna, Kanye and Paul McCartney … with Macca giving Kanye a taste of some real music!

Note to Kanye: You know, your voice is pretty good without all the auto tune.

The 57th Grammy telecast was down ratings-wise from last year (11%) – a six year low in fact. Many felt it was too bloated- and fingers are pointing to director Ken Erhlich, who has done the telecast since the 70’s. I know Ken and he’s a good guy (his career began ironically on the Tony Orlando and Dawn variety series in the 70’s), but it might be time to change direction. Ironically, he was even gifted a Grammy during the telecast with NARAS’ Neil Portnow giving him the trophy in the director‘s truck!

In reviewing the show again last night, I think there were just too many acts; and, NARAS’ constant indulgence into geo-political areas I think is at times unwise and unwarranted.

Last year, it was the marriages onstage which to my mind, brought everything to a halt and this year, a message from President Obama about violence against women, followed by a very stark performance by Katy Perry.

Now, don’t get me wrong … both were stunning and great; but, rather I felt they did mesh with what was going on. I applaud their efforts, but it just didn't work.

BOB SIMON RIP – What a horrific story about 60 Minutes' Bob Simon, killed in a car accident this week. The 73-year old, who had been all over the world, was the consummate reporter. His entertainment interviews, with the likes of Angelina Jolie and Jay Z, just mesmerizing. He asked Jay if he was a drug dealer … and, if his mother knew.

It’s been a somewhat awkward year for so many reporters in the field (Steve Kroft, David Carr, Brian Williams) and now a tragic end for Simon. So sad.

WILLIAMS UPDATE --- Inside reports have NBC's Brian Williams devastated and most predicting he will not return to the network after his 6-month suspension. Also, during this suspension, he cannot do any appearances without written and verbal consent from NBC.

So, how does he handle his apology tour? How does he return? With Jon Stewart leaving his post, some pundits have suggested this may well be the right direction for Brian.

Also, some other interesting facts from the behind-the-scenes meetings at NBC:

*Senior NBC officials seriously considered firing anchor Brian Williams because he lied to his viewers about riding in a military helicopter hit by a rocket-propelled grenade during the Iraq war.

*During those talks, Williams failed to secure a promise that he can return to the anchor chair he has occupied for the past decade, according to our inside network sources.

*NBC officials were suspicious of the on-air apology, particularly the anchor’s statement that he had “made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago."

*“Ninety percent of the people knew it was not mis-remembering, it was making it up."

*Internally, Williams, 55, was fighting hard to preserve his reputation and his job. He was calling people at all hours, looking for some kind of an escape route. “They were clinging to the, ‘Gee I just conflated my facts here’ story."

*But his task was made harder because serious questions were being raised about stories he'd repeated for years about his coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 — a career-defining, award-winning assignment for an anchor with a relatively thin reporting resume who was eager to cement his journalistic bona fides.

*Williams had made several questionable claims in interviews and a documentary: He witnessed a suicide at the Superdome in New Orleans, saw a body floating by his hotel in the French Quarter and had contracted dysentery from accidentally ingesting floodwater.

*But inside NBC, the Iraq fabrication was seen as the most damaging. “When helicopter crew members get shot down and you attach yourself to what they went through, it’s pretty outrageous,” a person familiar with internal discussions said.

*The idea of a self-imposed suspension was being discussed. Williams was giving network officials the impression that a self-suspension would be enough. But more information was coming in about New Orleans and the helicopter incident.

“It kept piling up, and his story seemed less and less credible,” our source said.

*“We felt it was very important that he come off the air,” our source said. “We didn't want to force him off the air, because we didn't want to be perceived as rushing to judgment. All the facts weren't in. But you can't have an anchor on the air while his judgment and credibility are being questioned on every front page in America. The priority for us was to get him off the air, not to demonstrate that we were mad at him.”

*As recently as a few days ago, Burke was torn between firing Williams and the lengthy suspension. For Williams, a suspension without a promise that he would get his job back was tantamount to a firing.

*This Tuesday night, the decision was final. NBC announced that Williams would be suspended for six months without pay. He reportedly makes $10 million a year.

*“It was very painful,” one NBC News journalist said off-the-record. “It was sort of like walking into a living room and someone telling you that your dad is not coming home. I can't tell you how much it hurts. We all worked so hard at establishing our credibility and it feels like our credibility has been badly damaged.

*“People are angry at Brian.”

*Many journalists, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that they were stunned by how quickly Williams fell from one of the highest perches in broadcast news.

They also said they were not surprised by the allegations that Williams had inflated his involvement in news stories and what he supposedly witnessed while on assignment. They said his exaggerations were an open secret at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and became an inside joke, mostly because they were not made on “Nightly News.”

*“There are few people who talk to Brian in an authoritative way,” a former top NBC news manager said. “There really wasn't anyone over him to say anything to him or to question his facts. There was no one managing him. There was constant changing to his whims.

“No one said, ‘No.’ ”

Chris Brown and Drake's Fight:
Rihanna "Loves the Drama"

Makes her feel like she's the only girl in the world!

Chris Brown
After Chris Brown and Drake -- or at least their entourages -- sparked a violent brawl between their entourages at a downtown NYC club early Thursday, it was widely assumed that the fight was over one very special lady: Rihanna, Brown's ex and Drake's pal, collaborator, and rumored hook-up. Although the "We Found Love" singer had been spotted out and about in NYC earlier in the week, she wasn't at W.i.P. (where fellow stars like Mary J. Blige, Neyo, Maxwell and others were spotted Thursday evening) when a massive fight broke out between Brown and Drake's respective posses. But she definitely heard about it, a source tells Us Weekly. Rihanna "loves this!" the source says. "Men fighting over her? Are you kidding? Of course. [She] loves the drama."

Brown, 23, tweeted a photo of a serious gash on his chin after a bystander (said to be a member of Drake's entourage) threw a bottle at him during the melee. ("Chris and Drake never got in each other's faces," an observer says. "It was entourage versus entourage, never Drake versus Chris.")

Rihanna "got text messages from everybody telling her what happened right after it went down," the source explains. "She just laughed. She's spoken to both of them and just thinks it's crazy. She's glad she wasn't there though!"

As previously reported by Us, the chart-topping singer, 24, has been secretly hooking up with abusive ex Brown for over a year -- and has been romantically linked to Drake, 25, in the past.

"She wants to be friends with both of them," the source explains.

For his part, "Take Care" rapper Drake denied "any wrongdoing" at W.i.P. in a Thursday statement to Us. "He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property," his rep said.

Rihanna With Jay-Z

Jimmy Iovine With Marc Anthony And Jennifer Lopez

Jay-Z With Kanye West

It was a night unlike any other the Vegas Strip has ever seen at the grand opening of Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve. Acclaimed global superstar DJ Erick Morillo kicked off the night with a set in the club's Main Room and led the countdown to 2011, while Interscope's Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre got the party started in the club's VIP room with DJ Ross One.

After the JAY-Z and Coldplay private concert in the event center at The Cosmopolitan the celebrities descended en masse to the new mega club for a historic opening. Kellan Lutz, who showed up wearing a black eye mask to avoid the Twi-Hards lined up outside to see him, settled into a table in Marquee's Main Room next to Wilmer Valderamma. 50 Cent arrived with friend Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was in anything but a fighting mood, and the two were seen dancing to music by DJ Erick Morillo before heading downstairs to the VIP room. Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan, Haylie Duff and boyfriend Nick Zano, Christina Milian, Abigail Spencer Pruitt, James Marsden, Jamie Kennedy, Jessica Szohr, Deryck Whibley, Jeremy Piven and Mark Salling were also spotted dancing in the Main Room.

The club which totals 60,000 square feet filled up to a capacity crowd of nearly 3000 people quickly and the VIP room, also known as The Boom Box was taken over by the superstar rapper JAY-Z and rock band Coldplay and their famous friends. It was so packed with A-list celebrities that you couldn't take two steps without bumping into a Grammy winner. Rihanna and Diddy came by to party with JAY-Z, Beyonce, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, who all held court at a center table with views of the Las Vegas Strip. Kanye West and John Mayer, who surprised the crowd with performances earlier in the night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’ grand opening concert, were also spotted at the exclusive after-party, as were Alex Rodriguez and girlfriend Cameron Diaz, Forest and Keisha Whitaker, Mark Wahlberg and wife Rhea Durham, Ellen Pompeo, Kirsten Dunst, Kings of Leon's Jared Followill, Kelly Slater, Olivia Munn, Whitney Port and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Celebrities looking for a more relaxed scene flocked to the club's third floor called The Library Room. Ashley Olsen enjoyed cocktails with boyfriend Justin Bartha early on, while Jared Leto showed up later in the night, following his 30 Second To Mars performance at The Palms. Magician David Copperfield and Dylan Lauren also enjoyed the vibe in the Library Room. Meanwhile, Mark Anthony and his wife Jennifer Lopez took over a table with 25 of their friends and family members and danced up a storm with pal Leah Remini. At one point, Anthony stole the club photographer's camera and started taking photos of Lopez who was playfully posing for him, while a few feet away Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine and Blake Lively were spotted dancing together on a banquette late into the night.

Bottles of Ace of Spades Champagne were flowing into the early hours and JAY-Z was spotted pouring glasses for friends including Gayle King. Solange Knowles did a special DJ set for her sister and brother-in-law and fellow DJ Samantha Ronson grabbed the mic to wish everyone a Happy New Year. At approximately 2:30 am Kanye West continued to surprise guests when he took over the mic in the DJ booth and treated them to an impromptu performance. Soon after, Diddy ordered a bottle of Ciroc for every table in the room as he requested his new hit "Ass on the Floor". Then JAY-Z joined Kanye in the booth and the crowd was going crazy. JAY-Z wished everyone a Happy New Year and the two started singing West's hit song, "Runaway" then their joint hit called "Monster". West and Jay-Z were then joined by Rihanna in a sing-along to her hit song, "What's My Name" and the crowd was in a frenzy.

Following JAY-Z and West's second performance of the evening, JAY-Z asked comedian Aziz Ansari to join them in the DJ booth and entertain the crowd with a "New Years Eve joke." Ansari said no, but he would not relent and eventually Ansari took the mic and got a few laughs but not before JAY, Kanye and Rihanna were joined by Beyonce in the booth at which point JAY stopped the music to wish happy new year to everyone in the room and to his wife "B". The party wound down after 5:00 AM on New Year’s Day but not before Diddy and his girlfriend Cassie made a final stop to say hi to his friend Erick Morillo in the main room’s DJ booth. Morillo proceeded to play Diddy's dance hit "Hello Good Morning" as the crowd and the cameras went crazy. It was a star-studded beginning to a New Year and a historic grand opening for Marquee Las Vegas that has set the bar for the club business once again.

Katy Perry

Pop star Katy Perry is asking Rihanna to organize her bachelorette party. Rihanna was in the middle of announcing her summer tour with Kesha, when Perry gave her friend the task of coming up with a wild party to celebrate her upcoming wedding to British comic Russell Brand. During an interview with Ryan Seacrest, the R&B star says, "She put that on me last week and now I have to come up with something cool 'cos she's getting married in India, so I'm like, 'OK and now what do I do to match that for a bachelorette party?'" But she has a bit of planning time: "That's at the end of the year, so we've got some time to plan that."

Jennifer Lopez

Superstar Jennifer Lopez is very happy that she quit her record label, because the change signals a "new beginning" for her. Jennifer revealed earlier this year that she was leaving Sony’s Epic Records after being with them for 11 years, despite plans to release a seventh album through the label this month. It was announced yesterday that she has joined Island Def Jam, which also has Rihanna and Mariah Carey in their stable. And Jennifer is very excited for the future, insisting she feels just as motivated about her career now as she did when she first started out in showbiz . She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "I feel like it’s a new beginning. It ’s a bit like when I was a teenager about to embark on this career but it ’s much more challenging, difficult and harder. I have so much more experience now but I feel just as fresh as I did back then and I’m excited about my life. "I won’t stop doing what I do. Maybe I’ll get to a point where I’m tired and feel I’ve done enough, but right now I see myself always working and expressing myself, whether in music or movies or fashion or whatever. That’s what I love to do."

Rihanna's ex. Chris Brown, is allegedly struggling to find a venue for his upcoming 21st birthday bash. The shamed star was handed a community service order and five years probation for getting violent with Rihanna during a fight after a pre-Grammy Awards party last year. His image has not been so good since the incident, and now Brown is even allegedly struggling to find a club venue whose owners are happy to host the star's 21st birthday celebrations on May 5th. The singer has allegedly looked for clubs in New York, Miami, and Las Vegas without success. A source told New York Post gossip column PageSix, "(Some club promoters) don't want to mess up their relationship, or their potential relationship, with Rihanna."

Editors Note: Hey Chris, We got plenty of clubs, just zip us a e-mail. Times Square Gossip will host it for you, just don't hit us!
