ICON RANDY JONES TICKET TO THE WORLD

Randy Jones

And what a sight to see...nearly 60,000 fans all standing in the Bronx watching some of the most expensive athletic talent ever assembled, Jeter, A-rod, Giambi, etc, and all forming the same four letters with their arms...Y..M..C..A TOGETHER with the Cowboy leading the way on the HUGE Jumbotron screens! With the inevitability of another Yankees' victory worked to a fever pitch by the top of the ninth inning, Jones was surrounded by sailors, NYPD and Yankee Personnel, (pop group anyone?) as he made an exit to a waiting car to bring him back to the Village.

Randy Jones In The Navy

Randy Jones also just completed a run as "Pharaoh" in the Stephen Sondheim Performing Arts Center's production of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" for the month of July....to smash reviews, we might add! Patrick Bosold of Fairfield Today said; "Director Randy West has spiced up this Broadway classic ("Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat") with performing-arts veteran and pop music icon, Randy Jones of 1970s and 80s-vintage Village People fame, who does a first-rate star turn with his portrayal of the Pharaoh of Egypt as the Elvis Presley of his day(!)."

MURRAY HILL WINES STAR STUDDED OPENING

Laine Spenser with Bill Murray, playmate Krista Ayne and Robert Funaro

Tony Noto With Krista Ayne And Robert Funaro

A tropical night in Manhattan gave rise to the grand re-launching of Fantasticks-producer TONY NOTO new wine shoppe emporium, at 34th and Third, MURRAY HILL WINES.
Partnered with next-door neighbor, sushi-themed restaurant MOCCO, they provided a wonderful night out in NYC, with a nice sampling of brand new titles from Shannon Ridge and Wente wines ... and, a terrifically inspired organic-vodka we particularly liked, Square One. Mocco provided some of the best sushi we've had this year, and a fantastic home-made pizza with tomatoes and beef. We also feasted on edamame; home made potato chips; and, seared chicken wings. Our thanks to Nobu and Mocco-owner Frank Hau.Noto hopes to make this new enterprise as successful as his previous enterprises, "We've introduced a whole selection of the new Green-wines ... the, next step in eco-friendly spirits. They're terrific ... everyone should try them!" Noto, who penned THE STOKER FILE last year is prepping another Broadway-project in his future too, BALD EAGLES. "Its politically oriented", he adds. Appearing for this event, was, ROBERT FUNARO from The Sopranos; Celebrity Service's BILL MURRAY; RANDY JONES from The Village People; Penthouse-pet KRISTA AYNE with Penthouse-pr chieftain LAINE SPEISER; PR-pasha DAVID SALIDOR; KEITH GIRARD from The Improper; and, RACE TAYLOR from WPLJ. Also stopping by were famed art dealer Derek Storm and artist Sean Paul.

DONNA SUMMER AND RANDY JONES AGAIN

Donna Summer Sings Her Hits

****

Class Act Donna Summer

Anyway, you all read my story on the Donna Summer event the other night at Mansion on west 28th street. I got some comments agreeing with me and others saying I was a asshole and was just talking sour grapes. I made my point in the story below that I wrote yesterday. The point was that the press is very important to any celebrity that is promoting a album, a movie etc. There was no need to move me around for some publicists boyfriend. There was plenty of room. There was no excuse of making Village People icon Randy Jones stand on a stairwell for almost a hour waiting to see Donna. Any old time publicist would have know this was the shot and taken Randy in to see Donna right away. Any good publicist would have know that Randy and Donna were the icons of Studio 54 and this is the shot the world would want to see. So enough about the losers SONY hires.

THE SHOW

The show was fantastic. Donna sang most of her greatest hits. She is a legend. People that lived the Studio 54 days were in tears. She belted out one great song after another. Soprano star Robert Furano along with famed art king Derek Storm were there. Artist Sean Paul watched the show in amazment. The lighting was great, the sound fantastic and Donna moved around the stage like it was the 1970's again. Her new album 'Crayons' is sure to be a huge hit. The show was a very moving ride down memory lane and even Donna started to cry when she saw Randy Jones. The audience went wild on each and every song. Mansions own Lee Blumer looked like a disco queen herself. We spotted Village Voices Michael Musto cheering Donna on. There was nightlife icon Chip Ducket dancing like he had Studio 54 owner Steve Rubel next to him. My favorite People Magazine reporter Heather Passaro was right in front of the stage singing along. So besides the publicist flack, Donna was a hit and always will be !

DEREK STORM HOSTS MARK KOSTABI PARTY

Sylvia Miles With Mark Kostabi, Derek Storm And Randy Jones

It was a star studded night in Soho last week as world renowned artist Mark Kostabi had an artist reception at the Martin Lawrence Gallery hosted by celebrity art dealer Derek Storm. Legendary for his tongue-in-cheek approach to his own work, artist Mark Kostabi has always has been a cult conglomerate and has maintained a level of success going on three decades now since his old NYC days hanging with the likes of Warhol, Haring and Basquiat. His former artist friends may be long gone but Kostabi has a new home at the Martin Lawrence Gallery who now offer his work throughout the United States. Kostabi calls Rome his home base and makes it back to New York City a few months out of the year where he hosts his game show "Title This" out of his Chelsea Studios. World famous celebrities compete to title Kostabi paintings while a panel of VIP jurors offer analysis and advice for the competing contestants. A few of his regular contestants, friends, and colleagues made their way to Kostabi's first Soho reception in many years.Macho Man Randy Jones of the Village People is no stranger to the NYC art scene, Kostabi scene, or any scene where the people are fabulous and times become legendary. Joining Randy in the mix were the likes of Lala Brooks, legendary lead singer of Phil Spector's girl group "The Crystals. Also on hand, Free Jazz inventor and living legend Ornette Coleman. Suzanne Vega rounded out the night of legendary musicians while world renowned actors on hand include the incomparable Miss Sylvia Miles, Robert Funaro of Soprano's & American Gangster fame, and still going strong former Dell-Dude Mr. Ben Curtis. A Soho art reception wouldn't be complete without fashion thrown into the mix so on hand also was designer Loris Diran. Mr. Diran will be headlining his own reality show soon on Bravo called "The Designer & The Dude". While juggling hosting duties of the night, press photography duties and making sure champagne glasses were always kept filled, Derek Storm can be reached at the Martin Lawrence Gallery Soho any time for those interested in indulging themselves into the art scene.

NEW YORK CITY'S BOWERY ROCKS AGAIN !

Randy Jones And Joan Jett

Joan Jett Performs

The nostalgia factor was smokin' hot at the grand opening of the new John Varvatos store at 315 Bowery, the site of the late and much-lamented punk mecca CBGB. The concept store, which has retained as much as possible of the old club’s character, played host to a benefit concert for VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. “Handsome” Dick Manitoba, the Dictators singer turned proprietor of Manitoba’s bar, introduced John Varvatos to the stage. “And isn’t it better that some of the history is preserved, unlike some of the other great New York spots, like 2nd Avenue Deli and the Palladium, which is now a NYU dorm?”Once again the famed CBGB stage was home to acts including Ronnie Spector, Cheetah Chrome (of the Dead Boys), and Ian Hunter (the former frontman of Mott the Hoople), but the real action was backstage. “It’s quite a night for characters,” the great punk photographer Mick Rock said with a chuckle as he squeezed past with that 'Macho Man' Randy Jones(Village People) to grab another Corzo Tequila margarita and watch Slash(Guns & Roses, Velvet Revolver), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Tom Morrello (Rage Against the Machine), Wayne Kramer (MC5), and actor Brekin Meyer perform “Kick out the Jams.” Gina Gershon, who had filmed a scene in the club for the movie Prey for Rock & Roll, ducked out after Joan Jett’s surprise performance, missing Perry Farrell’s energetic turn on stage. Outside behind the venue, Bobbby Cannavale, Zoe Kravitz, Jakob Dylan, Clem Burke (Blondie), Tika Sumpter (One Life to Live), and Sen Dog (Cypress Hill), reminisced about the old days. Back in the huge film-sized dressing room trailer pulled into the back alley behind the club, Joan Jett and Randy Jones traded war stories of the days of Neil Bogart music mogul of Casablanca and Boardwalk Records. “It has been nine years since I last played here,” said Jett."It's been THIRTY YEARS since I played here!', Jones declared, upping the ante! Jones topped the evening with: “I never thought that at CBGB’s I’d smell the mix of (pot) smoke and Bengay in the air. That's more like a Stones concert!”.

DEREK STORM'S BASH AT PUCK BUILDING

Randy Jones With Soprano Robert Funaro

Art Dealer and photographer to the stars, Derek Storm was at it again over the weekend hosting his star studded clientele at the Martin Lawrence Gallery's semi annual art auction at New York City's historical Puck Building in SoHo. Bids were flying fast and furious as MURAKAMI, RENOIR and CHAGALL's jumped off the auction block and into the eager hands of successful bidders from stage and screen as well as numerous well-heeled Wall Streeters willing to part with their 2007 bonuses. Among those spied feasting on fine food and wine were legendary music producer Ron St. Germain, LaLa Brooks, the original lead singer of the Crystals (Da Doo Ron Ron & Then He Kissed Me), elegant fashion designer Loris Diran and his bevy of models, Robert Funaro of "The Sopranos" and "American Gangster" and the ubiquitous 'Macho Man' himself, Randy Jones, who is remaining tight-lipped about his Tom Cruise tales.

RANDY JONES ON NOT SO MACHO CRUISE

Randy Jones Always Macho

Village People icon cowboy Randy Jones has been forced to scrap an anecdote about Tom Cruise from his new memoir Macho Man, after editors feared action from the superstar's lawyers. Jones' book lifts the lid on the Y.M.C.A. band's 1980s heyday, and his wild lifestyle away from the stage and screen. The 55-year-old wanted to include a tale about the night he partied with a 20-year-old Cruise, before the actor found fame in the 1983 film Risky Business - but it failed to make the cut because of legal fears, editors tell the New York Daily News. Jones says, "Tom and I had the same management company at the time. "I met him at a party Andy Warhol threw for Peter Gatien's Limelight [nightclub offshoot] in Atlanta." "However, the book which is due for release later this year, does include the time Jones smoked drugs at legendary New York nightclub Studio 54 in the presence of U.S. president Jimmy Carter's mother Lillian: "We were in the corridor, and someone was passing around a joint. They handed it to Lillian, and she looked horrified. She didn't take a puff, but she handed it to me very expertly." "Macho Man," described by Jones as a "cultural history," has an expected fall publication date.

OSAMA BIN LADEN GOES POSTAL IN TRIBECA

Randy Jones With Actor Keith Collins

I must say, I had a great time last night with Village People icon Randy Jones at the screening of Postal, the new movie based on the hit video game. This is a must see movie if you want to have some old time laughs. Scenes with Osama Bin Laden are so funny, you are going to drop your popcorn, or in my case, my beer. One thing I love about the Tribeca Film Center is they have a bar inside. Reminds me of when I used to go to movies in the 70's with a six pack. Prior to its long-awaited national rollout on May 23, Uwe Boll’s cinematic rendition of Running With Scissors’ POSTAL video game franchise will be shown at special screenings in major American cities, starting with New York and Chicago. The Big Apple preview took place last night at the Tribeca Film Center (founded by Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal and home to the famous Tribeca Film Festival). “As a born-and-bred New York boy, I’m really looking forward to this event,” admitted Running With Scissors CEO Vince Desi. “I’m very happy with what Uwe has done with this film, so I’m proud to see it showcased in my home town. Plus I get some good pizza and Italian ice.” Desi and auteur de farce Uwe Boll both did a Q&A following the screening. The Chicago screening will follow on Thursday, April 3rd, 7PM (CST) at the Lake Street Screening Room at 70 E Lake St.For more information on the upcoming POSTAL Movie, Postal games and gear, as well as updates on the development of POSTAL III visit their new expanded site www.gopostal.com and be sure to visit PostalNation.net for in-depth coverage of the RWS scene.

DEREK STORMS WILD NYC BIRTHDAY BASH

John Amaturo with Randy Jones and Derek Storm

I was invited to attend the birthday bash of famed photographer Derek Storm by Village People icon Randy Jones the other night. I have to tell you, I had one of the best times in a long time. The celebrated event was held at Ole restaurant on 25th street in New York City. As I headed out into the cold rain and snow, I was sure I was going to be miserable as most of the time I am. Ask Randy Jones, he will tell you. I've done every party in the world and why should a birthday bash at some Mexican restaurant on the East side of Manhattan bring out any kind of excitement to me. But I have to tell you, I had a blast. The people at this party were the nicest group of party goers I have seen in a very long time. The staff at the restaurant was the best, never letting my ever ending thirst for Budwiser waver. Derek was a sweetheart and so many people showed up to wish him the very best birthday. I had so many laughs with Hopes Voice Marketing Director John Amaturo who seemed to know everyone there. Then there was Buzz Foto's own Justin Campbell (upper right) looking fashionable like always. I wish every party I go to could have such nice people. So, Happy Birthday to Derek Storm !

ICON RANDY JONES HOSTS OCEAN 98 IDOL

Randy Jones brings down the house

James Edstrom with John Smith, The Dude, Bulldog and Phone Girl

Randy Jones with Listeners Frank and Marilyn

John Smith with The Dude, Bulldog and Phone Girl

Well we did it. I finally went down to Ocean 98, our favorite radio gig in Ocean City, Maryland to hang out with the crew of the hit show "The Rude Awakening", staring Bulldog. And I brought The Village People star himself, Randy Jones to join me in this wild fun adventure. Despite being pulled over on the New Jersey turnpike going who knows how fast, the trip started off with a bang. I can honestly say, I never seen a cop write a ticket so fast. Within 5 minutes he had us ticketed and on our way. That’s the kind of service I love. And Randy Jones. He did not miss a beat. We are pulled over on the side of the road with Randy doing an interview with Spin Magazine and you would think he would tell the reporter he would have to call him back. Not Randy.... He continued to do his interview and I just looked at him and pictured him still talking to this reporter while we are sitting in some jail cell somewhere. As the adventure continued, we finally arrive at Seacrets nightclub where we were there to judge The 3rd Annual Ocean 98 Idol contest, where the winner (left) gets tickets to The 50th Annual Grammy Awards, including round trip airfare and accommodations in Los Angeles. It also helped that that Radio station is also inside this huge complex of bars and Palm trees right on the water. I finally got to meet in person all the people I'm on the air with all the time, like The Dude, John Smith and everyone’s favorite "The Phone Girl". You got to love Phone Girl. Since I never met her before, she decided to play a dirty little trick on me. She approached me in the club and said I was cute and would I like to go back to her hotel room. Right away I knew when someone says I'm cute; they are either on drugs or a hooker. I thought she was both. And the little dirty things she was saying to me. I kept saying I'm not into it and kept looking around for Bulldog to save me. When I finally see the King of radio himself, he was in the corner laughing his ass off. What a set up. You would have thought I would have recognized her sexy voice from all the times I talk to her on the phone. Besides meeting some great Ocean 98 listeners like Frank and his wife Marilyn who turned out to be my only fans besides me, the night was wild with performers and the partying just never stopped. Then Randy Jones decided to take the stage and sing a few songs from his hit CD "Ticket To The World". The finale shocked the audience when all of a sudden 'YMCA' went on and all the crew from the Rude Awakening Show jumped onstage dressed like the Village People. The crowd went wild. Of course the next morning was not so much fun with the killer hangovers we all had. I stumbled out of my condo to head over to the Radio station to join everyone on the air and I was not such a happy camper. I grabbed a mike and filled the airwaves with my hangover complaints and bitched about everything including Phone Girls coffee. All that was going through my mind was my hangover and the dirty little trick phone girl played on me the night before, which at a future date will be repaid in full. Maybe a sex ad on Craig’s List with her cell phone number will do. Randy Jones finally woke up from his beauty sleep to join us in the studio where we said farewell to our listeners and fellow cast members The Dude and John Smith. Bulldog decided it would be safer to put us on a train back to New York City to bypass being stopped by the cops. I urge you to go to Randy Jones website and to listen to 'The Rude Awakening Show' right in the comfort in your home, anywhere in the world. And to think all this was happening while Britney Spears was being carted off to the mental hospital. Guess the world does not revolve around Britney!

VILLAGE PEOPLES RANDY JONES ALLEGEDLY SNORTED COCAINE WITH THE HILTONS

Village People legend Randy Jones

Paris Hilton's parents allegedly once snorted cocaine off a floor with The Village People's cowboy Randy Jones. The 'Y.M.C.A.' singer claims he shared a table with hotel moguls Rick and Kathy Hilton at New York's famous Studio 54 club in 1980, where they indulged in some recreational drug taking.Jones told the New York Daily News newspaper: "There was one rock of cocaine left, and it rolled off the table. They just didn't even bother bringing it back up to a hard surface - they just crushed it into the carpet and snorted it off that."Whatever Paris Hilton is, she came by it honestly."Paris' parents vehemently deny the incident ever took place. Rick said: "Never happened. We didn't move to the city until 1979." Meanwhile, it has been claimed Paris, 26, is desperate to win back ex-lover Stavros Niarchos.'The Simple Life' star, who recently vowed to move to New York to find a man, was spotted trying to "hook up" with Greek shipping heir Stavros while she partied at Hollywood's Crimson club but he wasn't interested. However, Paris faces stiff competition from rival Lindsay Lohan, who is said to be dating Stavros again. A source said: "Stavros wanted nothing to do with her and seemed so annoyed by her, he left the party. Paris had no idea Stavros had gone and was wandering around asking where he had gone. Stavros went to hang with Lindsay. He is sticking with her this time."
Editors Note: Just spoke to Randy Jones and the Daily News got the date wrong. It was 1980 which would have put the Hilton's in New York City !

RANDY JONES CELEBRATES STAR MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ'S BIRTHDAY AT PLUMM NYC

Randy Jones with Michelle Rodriguez

Bad girl from TV's LOST and GIRLFIGHT, Michelle Rodriguez, actually blushed in the presence of Randy Jones, original Village People Cowboy as he delivered his personal birthday present to her in front of LAW & ORDER's Chris Noth and a packed house at The Plumm in NYC . After pulling her Birthday Train Special into NYC, all the way up the coast from Miami, where she notoriously flirted with waitresses and indulged in all kinds of "frosting" activities, she made it known she needed something "special". Thinking fast, The Plumm's owner, Noel Ashman, convinced the multi-platinum recording artist Jones to take time from his current world tour supporting his new CD, "Ticket to the World" and to croon the traditional "Happy Birthday". Jones being anything but "traditional", offered up The Theme Song from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" which brought squeals of delight from a blushing M-Rod and the rest of the partying crowd...with everyone joining in on the last line, "..You're gonna make it after all!" Maybe there is hope. At least there wasn't an ankle bracelet monitoring device in sight!

ROBBIE WILLIAMS WANTS TO PLAY VILLAGE PEOPLE STAR RANDY JONES IN MOVIE

Village People Icon Randy Jones

WONDERING what Robbie Williams might look like in cowboy drag? That fantasy might come true if reports of his desire to lens a film about the Village People are on the mark. According to England's Daily Star, the British superstar has offered 950,000 [pounds sterling] for the movie rights to the tale of the legendary disco act. Word has it that Williams has his heart set on donning the chaps and cowboy hat originally worn by the VP's original cowboy, Randy Jones. Unconfirmed reports have Williams, even from rehab, continuing to put out feelers attempting to secure the rights. American Music Award winner Jones, who is currently on tour promoting his new solo CD, "Ticket to the World" and celebrating the 30th anniversary of Village People. WWW.TimesSquareGossip.com called Randy Jones at home and he told us: " I personally think Robbie is hands-down, one of the sexiest and most talented entertainers on the planet today,. I'm confident that my cowboy character from Village People will be in good hands with Robbie. For my money, I couldn't possibly come up with a more bodacious bum to fill my jeans and portray me on the big screen. I would even be willing to donate my moustache,..if he needs it! And I'm sending him lots of good wishes while he's doing time in rehab." Some may think this is a smart move. But one thing's for sure; if Robbie wanted to get in America's face and hit the market with a bang, he will surely pull that off through this, to say the least. And although Williams admits that, "Some of the Village People were gay, some of them weren't," he feels that their story needs to be told nonetheless. We can name at least one demographic that Robbie will be popular with after this movie is released.
