NEW YORK CITY WILL BE THE ONE HORSE TOWN

****
THE GLORIOUS CORNER

Story By: G. H. HARDING
****
Cousin Brucie With Micky Dolenz

THE HOOK MAN --- For more than 25 years, songwriter Rick Nowels has written some of the most memorable hooks in pop music. From Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" (1987) to Madonna's "The Power of Goodbye" (1998), New Radicals' "You Get What You Give" (1999), Santana's "The Game of Love" (featuring Michelle Branch) (2002), Dido's "White Flag" (2004) and John Legend's "Green Light" (featuring Andree 3000) (2008), Nowels' songs have become radio constants.

Nowels was most recently back on the Hot 100 as co-writer (and co-producer) with Lana Del Rey on "Summertime Sadness." Aided by its Cedric Gervais dance remix, the song marks her first entry on the Pop Songs airplay tally. The pair also co-penned "Young and Beautiful," which became Del Rey's first top 40 Hot 100 hit in June.

He recently said to Billboard magazine, “I met Lana in summer 2011. I had heard some of her songs on YouTube and I loved what she was doing. When we wrote it, I realized that she was a brilliant songwriter and a magical artist. She writes the kind of music I want to listen to.”

And about his craft, “I grew up on great records and always absorbed everything I heard. I could hear the chords to songs from a young age, so I would always figure out how to play songs that I liked. I'm just trying to do work that is as good as the music that I love.”

“I started writing songs when I was 13. By the time I was 15, I strongly identified as a songwriter. I went to Berkeley, where I studied music, and then moved to San Francisco and had two original bands during my early and middle 20's."

"Both bands became popular and we played a million club gigs. But, I ended up leaving each group. I moved to New York and never got a band together again. I was writing and recording my songs and, very luckily, Stevie Nicks heard "I Can't Wait” in 1986."

"I was also extremely lucky to be mentored by Jimmy Iovine for the first five years of my record-producing life. I learned so much from Jimmy and got to work in great studios and met so many legendary artists, producers and engineers. It made me really up my game.”

ONE TERM BILL --- Seems Mayor Bill de Blasio can't catch a break. That Liam Neeson event over the weekend, where he hosted a dozen City Council members Sunday at the stables that house Central Park carriage horses showed some unbridled anger at de Blasio’s absence. “He should have manned up and come," Neeson said about the Mayor. "I'm disappointed he's not here."

The Non-Stop actor invited all 51 council members to the stables to show the horses are treated humanely in a bid to derail the Mayor's planned ban on the industry. "These horses are well cared for," said Neeson, who has become the carriage drivers' highest-profile ally, at the Clinton Park Stables on W. 52nd St., where 78 carriage horses bed down.

"It's a connection with our past, it's a connection with our history," he said. "And it has to be said — the great white elephant in the room, four prime locations on the West Side of New York that realtor's must be salivating to get their hands on."

De Blasio said Sunday he does plan to visit the stables. "I'm firm about the fact that we have to make this move," said de Blasio, who skipped the tour, owing to other plans. Seems to me, had Bill attended it would have helped his dwindling approval numbers, which as of last Friday, it was at his lowest point ever.

He did say, "I want to visit the stables and will do it when the schedule allows, because we want to work with the folks who operate those horse carriages and get them new opportunities in other types of related work," he continued. "We want to make sure we're listening to their concerns as we do it, but I'm clear about where we need to go." During the tour, the Irish actor made hay with de Blasio’s electric car idea.

"The Mayor wants to replace them with electric cars. That's exactly what New York needs, more cars. This experiment has been tried with electric cars in San Francisco — failed abysmally," he said.

"The horses clearly seem calm and like it's their home," he said. "If there are legitimate concerns regarding the safety of the animals, then let's bring them out and have a conversation about a compromise plan."

Advocacy group NYCLASS, which has been the force behind the ban, said the stables’ conditions aren't the primary reason to ban the carriages.

"It’s the inhumanity of horses working in dangerous midtown traffic. Horses are easily spooked, and forcing them to work in loud, congested Lincoln Tunnel traffic is cruel and unsafe," the group said in a statement.

To be honest, the only time I’ve ever seen a horse spooked is when he was eating. This is part of NY-history and to see it banished would indeed be a shame. Another part of history is being torn down.

De Blasio … like Al Roker predicted …. one term for sure. What a disappointment!

CLOSING NOTES --- Monkee-Micky Dolenz, who celebrated his birthday over the weekend, called into Sirius/XM’s Cousin Brucie to tub-thump next weekend’s Monkees Convention 2014 in New Jersey. We'll be there as the group gets inducted into the American Pop Music Hall of Fame on Saturday. Visit their page HERE

Billboard has confirmed with multiple sources, that U2 has postponed the release of their new album & tour until 2015. The band has recently scheduled additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth (Danger Mouse remains on board as the project's central producer). While an Interscope/Island Records representative maintains that with a release date never announced the album shouldn't be considered delayed, Billboard has learned that the tour, initially on track for a mid-March announcement and September start date, will now begin in summer 2015.

"It seems to be taking longer for them to finish an album as they get older, but the great thing about U2 is that the whole of a record is always better than the sum of its parts," says a source close to the project. "That magic that the band always seems to capture ... they have yet to capture it" ...

It’s been a while since we've seen Coldplay dominating the world, but it looks like Coldplay-less music charts will soon to be a thing of the past. The British rock group announced that its sixth album, a follow-up to 2011′s Mylo Xyloto, will be a nine-track record called Ghost Stories and will hit stores on May 19. The band promptly shot to No. 2 on the U.K.’s iTunes list.

Just last week, Coldplay released a new track from the album called “Midnight,” which is a haunting, Bon Iver-esque pivot from their usual sound. Check out the brilliant video here on YOUTUBE.

MARY LAMBERT PERFORMS ON Z100'S ELVIS DURAN

Mary Lambert On Elvis Duran

Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Mary Lambert performed her single “She Keeps Me Warm” on Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show earlier yesterday. Off her recently released EP Welcome To The Age of My Body, the song was made famous as the hook in Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ hit “Same Love”. The 24-year-old stopped by to talk to Elvis about her recent success, her past struggles, and her historic performance at the 56th Grammys with Madonna, Queen Latifah, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. When asked about what life’s been like recently, the singer said she’s been able to “provide a social impact with music and that’s so incredibly gratifying.” Mary and Elvis were also interviewed for Good Day NY and her performance was featured on the show’s morning broadcast. For more information on Mary Lambert, please visit her website MaryLambertSings.com.

ON HER CAREER RIGHT NOW:

“I don’t know what I did in my life to be in this position, and have all the incredible things, all of the opportunities and to be on this platform. I get paid to do something that I love so, so deeply and it’s not just like making pop music or even just being on a platform to sing and do what you love. It’s also being able to provide a social impact with music and that’s so incredibly gratifying.”

ON “SAME LOVE” WITH MACKLEMORE AND RYAN LEWIS:

“Hollis who sings ‘White Walls’ [with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis] actually, she and I were friends and she had sort of kept pushing me to the guys and they were finally like okay what do we have to lose? They sent me the track ahead about 2 or 3 hours with it and then went into the studio to meet them for the first time and I sang it for them and I think they were moved.”

ON “SHE KEEPS ME WARM”:

“I wrote the chorus specifically for ‘Same Love’. I came up with four different choruses because I was scared. I really wanted to do this song. They were all used in the song! ‘Love is patient, love is kind’ and ‘Not crying on Sundays’, they were all different ideas I had for choruses. So that was genius of Ryan to sort of put them in the positions he did.”

ON HER PERFORMANCES AFTER “SAME LOVE” SUCCESS:

“I was still doing my solo shows, you know I had a bigger audience then. A whole 50 people, I was so excited! I was getting requests to do ‘Same Love’ because that’s why they had you know, come in the first place and known about me. But I felt really uncomfortable singing to a track and I’m not a great rapper, yet – still working on my mix tape!”

ON BEING EMOTIONAL AT THE GRAMMYS:

“The whole day before for about 10 hours straight I cried and I’m not exaggerating! There was like a wad of tissues following me and everybody was kind of making fun of me. I’m just known for being a crier anyway, I cry when I’m really happy and I cry when any overwhelming emotion… It was as soon as the chorus started singing I was like, they’re singing this melody that I wrote a year and a half ago in a vocal booth on a whim and then here’s Madonna. ‘Hi Madonna! Sure you can sing my lyrics!’ Okay, what life is this?”

ON THE REHEARSALS FOR GRAMMYS:

“I got really emotional because I saw the couples for the first time and there was a couple that mouthed a ‘thank you!’ to me and I was like ‘Screw you, dude! Don’t! I can’t even hold it together!’ So then I started crying. Then Madonna looks over at me and she literally wiped my tears off of my face and then I was like, ‘What world am I in right now?’ This is such a crazy life!”

IT'S 'GLEE' FOR ELVIS DURAN'S MORNING SHOW

Lea Michele On Elvis Duran

Lea Michele visited Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show to discuss her debut single “Cannonball”. The “Glee” star talked about her upcoming album Louder, the success of Glee, life after the death of boyfriend and “Glee” co-star Cory Monteith, and her upcoming book Brunette Ambition. Lea’s visit was the radio world premiere for her single. Her album is currently available for pre-order, and “Cannonball” can be downloaded on iTunes and Amazon.

To see pictures from Lea’s visit, click here.

On the Glee cast after the passing of Cory Monteith

“You know, a lot of people, really sort of you know were, concerned about us going back to work and wondering what that would be like. But at the end of the day, you know, we are a family and we did go through this together so to be there everyday and to have the support from each other is so important. And like I said, I’m just really grateful for them and what we do everyday we do in memory and we’re really proud of the work that we do for our fans and for our show. You know, what we created I don’t think anyone will every be able to do again with a show, that you know, came from such an interesting concept, you know Ryan Murphy is such a genius. I’m just really proud of it.”

On staying positive and looking forward

“I feel really thankful for the great people that I have in my life. To be able to continue to work and have things that I’m really proud of, I think that everything that I have been through, I have an opportunity right now to be a good role model and be a good sort of person. I have amazing fans that have really supported me in everything that I have done, so if I have the opportunity right now to be inspiring or encouraging for anyone – make something positive out of it.”

On Glee’s success

“It’s been really great. I think that Glee has really opened the doors to really bringing, you know, music into people’s homes and now whether it’s in other films or other shows, I’m really thankful for what we did. It’s, like I said, opened people up to music again and that I’m really, really proud of.”

On the release date of her album

“March 4th. It’s my favorite day of the year. I love March 4th. For me, it means so much. You march forth in life. You have to. It just seems so positive to me… I didn’t pick the day, I had a day in my mind but I got an email and they were like ‘Oh, it’s going to come out March 4th’ and I was like ‘That is so meant to be’. It so, it just feels so right to me, so that’s sort of been the theme of everything right now: to march forth with such strength, so that’s what I’m trying to do.”

On changing the album after Cory Monteith’s death

“When Cory passed away in July we sort of stopped and looked at the record and thought, ‘Well is there anything now that we want to change or add?’ It was so perfect the way it was. What I love so much about the album, with the exception of two songs he [Cory Monteith] heard every single song. He was like my biggest fan and critic and he loved every song! He would give me all of his notes and I took every one into consideration.”

LADY GAGA TELLS ELVIS DURAN ABOUT MARIJUANA

****
THE ELVIS DURAN INTERVIEW
****

Lady Gaga On Elvis Duran

Lady Gaga sat down with Elvis Duran and The Z100 Morning Show to talk about the release of her new album ARTPOP(out today), being the first performer to sing in space, and her emotional struggles with drugs and depression in the past. Elvis was able to dig into "Gaga's basement," during his 45 minute exclusive with the POP SuperStar. Elvis, as usual, created a comfortable atmosphere in which Gaga felt safe enough to discuss these difficult topics.

ON BEING ADDICTED TO MARIJUANA

“I just want young kids to know that you actually can become addicted to it [marijuana]… I have been addicted to it and its ultimately related to anxiety coping and it’s a form of self medication and I was smoking up to 15-20 marijuana cigarettes a day with no tobacco. I was living on a totally other psychedelic plain, numbing myself completely and looking back I do see now that some of it had to do with my hip pain. I didn’t know where the pain was coming from so I was just in a lot of pain and really depressed all the time and not really sure why.”

“It’s a battle, every day. I don’t want to lie about it because there is no reason to lie. But, the truth is that it is very hard to be famous. It’s wonderful to be famous because I have amazing fans. But it is very, very hard to go out into the world when you are not feeling happy and act like you are because I am a human being too and I break and I think there is an assumption, not just by the corporate world, or by humanity that I cannot break because I am alien woman and I am unstoppable. The truth is that I can break, and I did. I was not very good at breaking. I lost everything that I love. I was in a wheelchair for six months. I did a lot of drugs and took a lot of pills. I let it all kind of go because I didn’t know if I was going to live for the next year or two. When your schedule gets that out of control and you’re not able to feel the ground anymore you lose a sense of your own soul.”

“I had to stop. I was addicted to it [marijuana]... I’ve been addicted to various things since I was young. Most heavily over the past seven years. A friend gave me this term I lily pad from substance to substance because I get to a point where I can’t go any further with one substance so I move to another.”

ON OVERCOMING HER ADDICTION AND HER MESSAGE TO HER FANS

“You can fight. I do put that pressure on myself; I have to be high to be creative. I need that, that’s an error in my life that happened for over 10 years. Can I be brilliant without it? I know that I can be and I have to be because I want to live, and I want my fans to want to live. I don’t want them to torture themselves in the way I have. I want to show people that I will last past 27 and I will last longer, and so will you. I want to change this code in the atmosphere that in order to be remembered I must die young. In order to be remembered as a legend I must be dead first. This is unhealthy. The way that we [celebrities] are treated by the media, this is unhealthy. Not just me, I am just one of many people that are treated poorly by the media.”

ON HER ACHILLES HEEL IN THE BUSINESS AND HOW SHE OVERCAME IT

“Look I think my Achilles heel in this business has always been from the beginning, like, oh is she a rich girl from New York? Did she go to a private school? But actually I did go to a privileged school, I did go to a private school, I did have a great education. My parents were not rich, they sent me to a great school with all the money that they had…I am smart. I will no longer allow this thing that was my Achilles heel to remain there.”

ON THE PRESSURES OF BEING A FEMALE ARTIST

“There’s this incredible pressure on female artists that we have to reinvent ourselves between each record. Michael Jackson didn’t reinvent himself with each album, or Elton John or Whitney Houston. These are some of my favorite artists in history. What I was thinking about was I don’t want to throw my wigs away, I don’t want to throw my outfits away, I want to celebrate them because these are the inventions that got me to where I am. I want my fans to know that you really just need one good idea. I feel like this pressure that the public puts on you to have several good ideas over and over again until you die; this is actually not reality.”

ON GETTING OUT OF THE CORPORATE MOLD

“ARTPOP is definitely a time that we are really excited to be putting art into the front and that corporations will no longer drive me or my work and that the House of Gaga- this is our foray into the art and technology world. The artRave was the beginning of that.”

ON THE CHANGES SHE MADE FOR ARTPOP AND WHY SHE IS DIFFERENT

“I’m usually already on to the next album when the album comes out. I’m really very fascinated with this transformation inside of me that I am feeling very happy and confident in the work that I have created. I really love this album. I mostly love this album because it helped me lose 30 pounds in the gym!”

ON WHAT ARTPOP IS ALL ABOUT

"This album is about joy, coming into my own, and also really deciding for myself as an artist that I don’t need to change my image with every single album. This was something I was really fascinated with iconography and how we see the artist.”

“This is why ARTPOP is so important to me. I want the world to know that the real intelligence is in the heart and the mind of the artist and not the corporation.”

ON NOT BEING A FORMULA AND BUILDING THE HOUSE OF GAGA USING HER GREATEST TALENT

“When you have road bumps in your career everybody starts to shake and everybody starts to get nervous… The reality is that there was never any formula and I am not a marketing plan and I never have been. ARTPOP has no marketing plan… This was something that was generated by this young collective group called the House of Gaga, which has been our debut on Sunday at the artRave… What I’m trying to say I guess is that I may be talented at music, but my greatest talent is seeing potential in others.”

ON DIGGING DEEPER AND ABOUT WHO LADY GAGA IS AS AN ARTIST

“I think the truth is that since the beginning of my career, although I am a pop star now, I was not generated by a factory, I was not generated by a corporation, and there was no team other than the team that I put together that helped me make my artistic dreams come true.”

ON THE MIND OF AN ARTIST AND WHAT ARTPOP SHOULD MEAN TO HER FANS

“If our minds go, there is nothing else. Somebody gives me a canvas at the beginning of every album cycle and its blank. I am left with a paintbrush and I sit by myself. That is the thing I want people to know and recognize not just about me, but about themselves… There is a canvas, a paintbrush, and an artist and then the ideas start to come. That is what ARTPOP is. What I want my fans to know is that you will not be defined by the people that hire you. You will not be defined by the corporate world around you. You will be defined the ideas that are in your own heart and in your own mind. It is just you, and that brush, and that canvas. You will work hard enough that one day you will sign only your name at the bottom of that blank page.

ON HER SPACE PERFORMANCE IN 2015

“It’s going to happen in 2015… This event where I didn’t have to pay for my seat, and it was offered to me by Zero G Colony and Virgin Galactic to be the first to technically to sing from space. Who knows if someone will build a rocket before then, I don’t know! It was more important to me that I am the first to sing from a Virgin Galactic space craft.”

ON WHAT IT TAKES TO PERFORM IN SPACE

“I’ll explain this to you - it’s not so easy to sing from space. Even if you are flying to space on one of these commercial flights this is not congruent with the actual event and what will be done. This is an entire event and festival that’s being created to take music to the beyond and have me, the artist, singing from this space craft and that will be live streamed back to earth while there is a concert going on Ground Zero.”

KATHY GRIFFIN DISHES ON ELVIS DURAN SHOW

****
ON THE RADIO WITH

ELVIS DURAN AND THE MORNING SHOW
****

Kathy Griffin Comes Clean With Elvis Duran

It's no surprise Kathy Griffin, who is in town for her comedy show this friday at Carnegie Hall, opens up to Elvis FIRST about current celebrity "happenings." Elvis, who is brilliant at creating a comfortable environment in his Tribeca Z100 studio, let Kathy voice her opinions over the air waves this morning. Elvis pointed out during the interview how Kathy, who is known for taking jabs at many of these celebrities, has been often seen hanging around them. Elvis voiced his concern about how being in these circles now, could eventually tarnish her reputation as the "peoples person." Kathy quickly set Elvis at ease, as she explained that although she may be friends with some, there is no rule/agreement made preventing her from making fun of them.

This seemed to make sense to the entire Elvis Duran Morning Crew, as they continued to laugh hearing some hysterical Kathy Griffin celebrity interpretations. Kathy Griffin stopped by "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show", before she performs at Carnegie Hall for the New York Comedy Festival, this Friday at 8 PM. Her show is titled Kathy Griffin: Bite My Big Apple. Go to NewYorkComedyFestival.com for more info. Please find some fantastic quotes below, regarding the Kardashians, Cher, Kayne West, Amanda Bynes, Miley Cyrus, Ryan Seacrest and many more!

ON TWEETING WITH CHER

“I swear I have tried to give her [Cher] a Twitter lesson, although, I am turning into my own 93 year old alcoholic mother myself. I don’t drink, but I am also not a techie.”

ON THE KARDASHIANS

“I think there might be a turn in the world of Kardashians. I think people are done with them. I think they are done with the ones they tried to introduce this year like the boring sister in law who does yoga, and Brody who was in “The Hills”, and then I think there is one called Taffy? I think once Bruce Jenner becomes a woman it’s a completely different conversation.”

ON KRIS JENNER

“Kris Jenner has repeatedly said can you please stop calling my daughters dirty whores. I said no, its important, and what I do for America."

ON THE TWO SIDES OF KANYE WEST

“There is Kanye the musician and that’s fine, and there is the Taylor Swift moment which is the greatest thing that ever happened to her. She now has a pass for life. She could actually kick kittens in the face and we would be like, ‘Aw but there was that one time Kanye tried to take your award!’”

ON MILEY CYRUS

“I’m all about Miley. I love slutty Miley. I don’t care for Hannah Montana I find her boring. I like nudity on a wrecking ball.”

ON AMANDA BYNES

“Let me say this about Amanda Bynes. She is kind of not off limits. She is actually getting real legit health care and there are so many people that have whatever she has and aren’t, that I feel like she is going to be ok. She is in a fortunate position where people care about her and looking after her and she has parents.”

ON RYAN SEACREST

“I would say Ryan Seacrest and I have a cordial relationship because he gets that its all in good fun. Demi Lovato has an army. I get more death threats from Demi Lovato fans called Lovatics and the Tea Party than really any other group. Those two describe it in graphic detail.”

ON GWYNETH PALTROW

“Gwyneth Paltrow is not having my crap. I tried to make her laugh and she wasn’t having it. I had an 8x10 photo made and I signed it, “To Gwyneth”, and I signed her name wrong because I knew it would drive her crazy.”

ON DOING STAND UP

“When you do live stand up you really live for a moment where Justin Bieber is covered in probably a dirty bed sheet leaving a brothel… allegedly. This is almost knocking the Kanye rant out of my act.”

ON JOHN MAYER AND HOW SHE APPROACHES CELEBRITIES

“Recently I saw John Mayer and he kind of did the two fingers crossed like as if he was performing an exorcism. I do get that a lot. I am all about the observation. I call it like the boom mic. I have an imaginary one. I am not into confronting celebrities I’d rather observe and then talk smack about them later behind their backs.”

LADY GAGA OPENS UP TO THE ELVIS DURAN SHOW

****
ON THE RADIO
WITH
Elvis Duran And The Z100 Morning Show
****

Lady Gaga On Elvis Duran

With over 50 million singles sold Lady Gaga is one of the purveyors of modern pop. Sitting down with “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” this morning after taking a year-long break following a hip injury, she said that when she is not on stage she does not feel alive.

On Canceling Her Born This Way Ball

She cancelled the US portion of her Born this Way Ball last year, and felt that she was letting down her fans when she made the announcement. “It wasn't until I felt pain onstage that I really knew I couldn't go on anymore, because I never feel pain on stage," she said.

On The Passion Behind Creating The New Album ARTPOP

With her first new album in two years titled ARTPOP, Gaga revealed that she believes more in this album than anything in the past five years.

Her rise to fame has not always been easy. When asked about breaking into the music business, she disclosed the industry at the time was oversaturated by male dominance. “It made me hard and it made me kind of vacant and insecure, and that's when I started to put on all the wigs and put on all the outfits because it was through transformation, that I was able to free myself from those insecurities.”

GAGA Discusses Her Fame Roller Coaster

Later on she said that fame is like a roller coaster, “…You can't think and you can't breathe and you don't have time to sleep.” Her secret – “You just have to go with it.”

On Reinventing Herself and Making Her Fans Happy

With her new single “Applause” released last week, Gaga once again reinvents herself. The music video for the single debuted yesterday on Good Morning America and she revealed that she loves changing to make everyone happy. Instead of becoming one icon, her excitement comes from the fact that she can be every icon instead of just one.

The Excitement Around The November 11th Release of Her Album ARTPOP

ARTPOP is due to be released on November 11, 2013. On the day of the album release Gaga will be hosting an Art Rave in New York City. What should her fans expect from the Art Rave? "When you arrive at the Art Rave, it will be a huge warehouse full of rooms where you can view all this artwork that we created together and then you can watch me live,” she said. The rave will be centered around her music and art, two things Gaga hopes to focus most on with this album.

Selena Gomez With Elvis Duran

Selena Gomez visited Elvis and the rest of the morning show crew to talk about her new album, which will be released this summer.

“The older I’ve gotten the more I’ve wanted to have creative control” Gomez revealed when asked about the process of recording her upcoming album, “I got to write a lot, which was fun. But I ended up appreciating more of figuring out the melodies and working with producers that I admire.”

“I guess we are noticing something here…a movie that you typically would not have done before, a new look, a new feeling that you gave us at the MTV movie awards and now a new album. Is this going to be a departure from what we are used to? What is different about this album?” Elvis questioned, to which Gomez replied “Everything. Not just the lyrics, but the music of it all…this time I wouldn’t even touch a song if I didn’t like. I really wanted to be a part of it. …I just wanted to make sure that every sound you’re hearing, every track you’ll play is like ear candy. It’s just fun.”

“What’s Selena Gomez up to? What is she gonna tell us in this album.” Elvis wants to know, “I’m in my 20’s. I wanna have fun, I wanna enjoy my life and not have to worry about every little thing and each of the tracks on the album kind of have the reflection of just letting loose and just being in the moment. It’s a shift, as opposed to a more emotional stand point. There is one of those on there, but it’s still going to keep them guessing.”

The Demi Lovato Interview

Demi Lovato stopped by the morning show yesterday to talk to Elvis and the gang about her new album, as well as her position as a judge on The X Factor.

Her new album “Demi”, released May 14, features her hit single “Heart Attack”, as well as a collaboration with U.K. X Factor Finalist, Cher Lloyd. When asked about her new songs, Lovato revealed that “some are very catchy pop songs that will get stuck in your head. Other songs are a lot heavier than things I’ve released in the past.”

In addition to her new album, Lovato will be a judge on the new season of The X Factor. After being a judge last season, Demi feels confident about heading into the position this time around. Although 2 of the 4 judges are not coming back, she is excited to continue to be part of the show. Elvis asked, “What is it you love most about that show in particular?” to which Lovato replied, “X Factor is awesome. You’re not just looking for the good voice…You really have to take into consideration all of the aspects. Where would this person fit in the market? Can this person carry a concert? Is this person going to be able to entertain America? Rather than just can they sing a good song.”

Elliot Tiber

XM’s Brett Winterble interviews Taking Woodstock author Elliot Tiber tonight (at 10:00 PM PT-channel 166) and got him to reveal for the first time, that a third and final tome on Woodstock, penned by him, will be released in the summer … titled After Woodstock (via Square One Publishing).

Winterble, who called the Woodstock event a “touchstone of our generation,” at one point, asked him what memory remained with him the most from the legendary event in 1969. Tiber replied, “Richie Havens’ performance of ‘Freedom’ – it was what we wanted, we fought for, and though it didn’t happen right away, is finally starting to come true. Don't forget - the event was peace, love and music.”

Tiber also talked about his new book out this week called, Palm Trees On The Hudson, which is about his life in New York and his association with Judy Garland. “I had put together a show for a very famous judge … and, the talent was Garland. She gave me some advice then that I have never forgotten. Meeting one of my idols was amazing indeed.”

ELVIS DURAN WELCOMES NEW MORNING HOST

Z100 ANNOUNCES NEW HIT
****

Z100 Legend Elvis Duran

Z100, New York’s Hit Music Station, announced that Bethany Watson will join the “Elvis Duran and The Morning Show” as its new cohost weekday mornings from 6 – 10 a.m. Watson made her debut today alongside Elvis Duran, star of the wildly successful “Elvis Duran and The Morning Show,” on New York’s Z100 and more than 40 other radio stations across the country.

“Elvis Duran and The Morning Show” is the most listened-to Top 40 morning show in the U.S. and is syndicated nationally by Premiere Networks. Broadcasting live from New York's Z100, Watson joins Duran and his on-air crew, while they entertain listeners with up-to-the-minute entertainment and pop culture news, celebrity guests, hit songs, and regular features such as “The Sleaze” gossip segment and the ever-popular prank “Phone Taps.”

Watson was born in Wisconsin and began her entertainment career at the University of Minnesota, where she studied theater and improvisational comedy. After finding herself at a desk job post-graduation, she decided to reach out to her favorite local radio show, “The Dave Ryan in the Morning Show” on 101.3 KDWB in Minneapolis, to apply for a vacant co-host position. Watson landed the job and co-hosted alongside Dave Ryan for more than four years.

“After an exhausting worldwide search, we found her! Bethany brings lots of baggage, but the kind of baggage that makes for a fun, playful and thoughtful co-host,” said Duran. “We can't wait to introduce her to our listeners Monday morning.”
