PETE DOHERTY CALLS DRUG USE RUBBISH

Babyshambles druggie Pete Doherty is lashing out at reports alleging he had continued to use hard drugs while in a London jail, insisting he has a certificate proving his sobriety. The troubled singer was released early from Wormwood Scrubs Prison today, after serving 29 days of a 14-week prison sentence for probation violation. Last month, the British newspaper The Sun published photos of Doherty inside his jail cell and claimed he was still on drugs. But Doherty, who admits the prison stint was difficult, has blasted the tabloid reports of his alleged heroin use as "rubbish". He says, "I managed to stay clean. I got my certificate. I was going to Sellotape it to the wall, but they wouldn’t give me any Sellotape."Did I take heroin inside? Complete rubbish. The prison didn’t release statements, it’s their policy to ignore it rather than acknowledge it (the media reports)."I was in segregation for the last three weeks. They call it the block.Supposedly I was in debt to loads of big time drug dealers. All I’ll say to that is: chance would be a fine thing."
Editors Note: Hey Pete, can you send us your sobriety certificate?

PETE DOHERTY TO BE RELEASED FROM JAIL

Pete Doherty

Drug addict Pete Doherty has been granted early release from jail, and he will walk free on this Tuesday. But now the star is now set to be released after serving just 28 days of his sentence, which has been halved and a further 18 days deducted as part of a scheme introduced last summer to ease huge prison overcrowding. He also gets another two days taken off for time spent in police custody. Doherty was forced to postpone a solo show at London's Royal Albert Hall on April 26 and scrap his appearance at the Love Music Hate Racism benefit in the British capital on April 27. But his release means his planned performance at Britain's famous Glastonbury Festival in June should go ahead as planned.

Wild party boy Pete Doherty is snubbing a $10,000 offer to model for an online fashion retailer, insisting the "bare minimum" for his services is $60,000. The Babyshambles singer was approached by discount clothes Web site lastseason.com after hearing of his financial troubles in 2007, during which he claimed to have made a profit of just $58,300 from his touring and album releases. But the troubled singer turned down the day long modeling shoot, with his management e-mailing the company's founder Stefano Passantino saying: "I think you are batting substantially below the mark. "The fee on this would be a bare minimum of $60,000 before we even begin to discuss anything." And Passantino is slamming Doherty's outrageous demands. He says, "I thought Pete could do with a day's work for what would be good money by anyone's standards. He is just not worth that much." Earlier this month, the singer charged just $200 to perform at an English teen's birthday party, while he earned $30,000 for an up-close-and-personal set for an American millionaire recently.

Doherty says, "The gig went really well. It was really nice. I got to try out lots of new material. These people were real aficionados. They certainly know their stuff. It’s not anything to do with drugs being taken, put it like that. He’s our best mate and a recovering addict. It wasn’t right for him to come out tonight." One workman said: "She had no make-up on and no shoes. It was sad. She must have a fortune in the bank but was wandering around like a tramp looking for a smoke."Last week, Amy cancelled her British tour on doctors' orders after struggling to cope with husband Blake Fielder-Civil's imprisonment.Blake is currently in remand at London's Pentonville Prison awaiting trial on charges of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.Since Blake was refused bail, his mother Georgette claims Amy has been taking "more drugs than ever".
